This game is really pretty stellar. Only downside is it’s a fucking extraction game.

I usually hate these types of games but this one fucks. I'm really liking this. I hope they have a way to keep the sweat lords that play 24/7 isolated from the regular folk.

Lots of nice systems baked in that keep it from being autism simulator.

I'm sure after a couple days I'd get the hang of it, but I have no clue what all these items are.
Legit looting everything and praying make it out. So far so good. Played solo and with a buddy. Put my uh QR code on the last page. Mad antisocial but this game is fun as a team. Add me my guys. Hail Yotei.

Game is fun, unfortunately only duo atm and some solo runs. More maps and more meta progress would definitely make it better, but I didn't get into the original playtest.

In ~8 hours of playtime my game has crashed somewhere between 8 and 11 times. Hopefully that's just a playtest thing, but it's pretty awful.

Watching Shroud play this again. He said that this test isn't done well, it's too limited. If people put hours into it, it seems very shallow. The previous test was much better. Also in terms of crashes which the last version had very little of, but this test version has a huge problem with. Probably due to the limited version. Lots of his friends can't even play it now.

He said he is glad he put hours into the previous version, because that is what made this one of his most anticipated games. If the current version was his only experience, he wouldn't be nearly as excited. Perhaps even worried since now it looks like it is shallow and unstable. But upside is, if you like this, the full game is so much more (and most likely far more stable).

For me though, didn't play it last time, but tried some of this

- Graphically it is optimized to a level other developers should take notes on. On my 4090 it is at 140+ FPS on all settings maxed without frame gen.

- Sounds are good.

- Not sure the game is for me though. I like to chill and play solo, but it is so much harder without a squad.

I was in the tech test back in May - the tech test had 2 other maps (space port and buried city) and had progression in (upgrading benches/the chicken/gear). The full release seems to have 2 more maps beyond that.

There definitely is a lot to do. Unless they change things, I strongly recommend that when the game comes out you a) keep any fruit you find in the open world (it spawns in the wild usually and is REALLY hard to find) b) keep stuff like the pet bed/dog collar/comfy pillow/etc - there are some progression quests tied to that to upgrade your chicken. The higher tier of station/gear unlocks need some really rare ass shit that is only found in specific areas

I installed this for the first time last night and did 5 runs solo.

I'm normally pretty good at FPS games but I got shit on, every run. I never extracted and the closest I got was dying once to running out of time.

Some of it was my fault for playing too aggressively, but I loaded the game knowing next-to-nothing about it (I didn't play or watch anything previously) and died to random dumb shit like the kamikaze bowling balls blowing up at my feet or BBQ'ing my ass with their little torch. oh, and the mechanical face-hugger fucked me up, once, too.

The game seems super cool, but I genuinely hate how 'mushy' the controls on these type of games feel. I hated it with the Division 2, but I understand that the genre kinda has to be that way or everything turns into a twitch (not Twitch) contest. Still, I feel like I'm constantly fighting the game to even play it.

I'm sure it'll get easier, but it's definitely an adjustment and there's a little bit of a learning curve.

We didn't play any of the other tests, but yeah, we definitely thought they hurt themselves by limiting what you can build so much. You basically get dozens of different materials and can't do shit with any of them because it's all locked out behind the full game.

So it's an extraction shooter where nothing you extract has any value.

We had a pretty fun time. Couple times we got shit on, but then we went into the higher level map or whatever and dunked on some people.

Watching the josh khazam or whatever video on it from a few days ago, does look pretty wild with more of the later stuff locked out of the open playtest. I think they made a mistake locking it down as far as they did. I need friends to play though >.< But most are still bf6'ing.

It might be my headset, friend watching my stream seemed to hear verticality more accurate than me, I was struggling with if someone was above or below me. Otherwise yes sounds great, and even good that sometimes it's indistinct so your like wtf was that.

Seems like generally you can only recycle down and not many methods to upcycle items ie get fabrics made into tape. Which means dont want to always max space by dismantling everything. ? Also with free loadout was shocked when I actually managed to go overweight. Need to figure out best pvp guns, so far kettle seems a liability, I didnt mind rattler, but not sure if the rifle or the stitcher might be best for trying to gun folks down. I've broken shield a lot of time but then either bots interfere or one of us ends up breaking contact. Almost got to slide into someones extract as doors were closing. Not sure how many spawn in a map but I've almost never gotten to a lift early or late and not be contested by at least one player. And jfc the lights and sound carry just so far. Thinking ponying up trying to safe slot a key every match may be best solo. Wish there was a way to better know how far sound goes breaching.

I noticed crouch seems to have at least 2 speeds, so my mechanical keyboard can just barely sorta do the slow crouch which seems to sound quieter than full mash crouch walk. Kinda annoying that a few aspects make the game look to be more catered to a controller but fuck aiming with one. (Steam deck also couldnt handle it despite what some folk said, spawn the empty fringes sure but get near some multi level areas and it tanked)

I think it's worth a buy to support having a well optimized game that's a full release as well. Supposedly some level of sjw dev, but I dont see anything controversial. I dont mind it being body type 1/2 that's just an easy neutral ground to keep folks on both sides the aisle happy. Was funny my default random character was an old dude with golden goldilocks hair. But with how quirky the game is I almost rocked it to be silly.

I'm hoping there's more depth later, I'll miss tarkov being a little more autistic over the top with weapon modding but a lot of that is just being a gun nut irl. I'll take the little vague stuff in this over some of BF6's somewhat nonsensical dumb stuff.

This is gonna be a super interesting launch. Game is actually good, even by most objective measures - looks good, controls and plays well, runs well (even at 4k), minimal things broken, etc. Whether people actually want to play an extraction shooter like this is really going to be the question.

Tarkov, despite its success, is definitely a super niche market and propped up heavily by gun nerds and autism. This game is a much larger scale production trying to grab a much larger audience, so it'll be super interesting to see whether this type of game can actually adopt any kind of mainstream playerbase.

This game reminds me of overwatch insofar as they both clearly started as something else and morphed into what we got. In both cases, the original idea was infinitely more appealing to me, personally. This game has incredible sound design, neat themes, runs great and feels good to play. For me though, I just can’t be arsed with extraction games. This would be a great mode on top of a pve experience and I’ll be interested to see how successful it is. They did price it right to their credit.

I will have to try this today before it ends. Just to see if its worth it. I don't think I have ever played a extraction shooter, so not 100% sure what is going on, only what I can read about it.

Too many things to play this month.

I think one thing that'll get them a LOT of box sales is the $40 price tag. I have a feeling it may not have staying power, but I think initially it'll sell well.

The other thing helping them is that there really isn't shit on the horizon gaming wise for the next several months.

Had my first good pvp / team up. Came on a fight, winner went to loot about dropped him first sniper shot. Moved up, basically voice lined if I wanted the loot we could go our ways. I needed raider dmg, so we met up and healed him while alternating shooting him. Good god the ax hits hard, makes me wonder how much meta might be trying to swing on people or at least bots. We then went and I opened the hatch together.

Havn't seen this stupid raider tent I need to loot though for current quest.
