Best to just clipper in and out unless you show up in force. Maybe its faster on your donkey if it's lv 20+ but under 20, without the assplosion speed carrot buff, swimming solo was slightly faster than swimming on mount. If you are swimming come in directly from the far eastern side since it's the furthest point away from the docks and you only need to reach into the green quest circle, see your main map, to get credit.

f'ed up thing was we had a clipper built by next morning but it was more the lets see if we can do it than anything else. Me and another guildmate started off swimming. The following happen (both of us in our mid 20's).

1. Jellyfish attacks by range about 8% of the way there. We had our mounts out swimming next to us in a chance to grab agro. It worked thankfully because after getting smacked, dropping to 10% health, the jellyfish went on to tag our mounts allowing us to dash swim out away from it.

2. About half way there, 20 to 30 mins of swimming maybe, we had to shake and bake a whole line of sea bug / beetles

3. Whew almost there we can see the Western shore line. At least four to five large ships or clippers go by and a row boat here and there. We dip under the water. Here is where I fucked up. I started suffocating out of oxygen. Thought I was fine just under the surface riding the water but no you need to be head fully out of the water. Still in the deep part of the ocean my pack dropped all the way down. My buddy had a outlaw buff on him, as I stayed on my corpse watching him, he was swimming over to a empty rowboat when one of our own eastern faction peeps, Obsidian Fear, rolled up on their clipper dropping him thus sending him directly to trial and 28 mins of jail time.

4. I released back on the Eastern continent but made the swim again to my pack. Remember you can see your grave site of your most recent death on the main map. Once I got there I had to swim down, pick up the pack, and move it over to a hill / knob under the deep waters suffocating probably five times, moving it 20 meters each time or so, till I had it on a high enough underwater hill to pick it up and still reach the surface with out drowning. Thankfully I was respawning on the closer western side or I would have gave up.

5. Finally make it to the Western land. I was south of the Throne of the Crescent / quest turn on the docks. Of course I get jacked in the water cove there by a glider pker from the Western faction after already dodging sharks and other players on boats

6. Ok almost there, you dont have to turn in the pack to get the large scarecrow quest completed, just swim with the radius of the quest line. Some Nui sorc blasts me from the docs just a hair away from completing. Came back one more time, got the pack, swam in the radius to complete it and said fuck the gilda star.

So it can be done but I would advise waiting on a clipper.
Man what a story. Fuck me.

On the banana thing, I saw a reddit post saying the "safe" way to do is using the donkey and just swimming right under the sea level on it or some shit, it moves relatively fast. I haven't bothered doing the quest yet. Other way is to try to find people who are going there, but obviously that doesn't help if the guys escorting you decide to kill you right before the turn in and jack your pack. Definitely a quest you want to rush at launch as the longer you wait, the more likely it'll be camped.

You could wait for your boat but if you get boat jacked and they destroy it, you're probably not going to use your boat for like a week since you need 10k alchemy to make the item to repair clipper boats and that shit will take a while, plus you'd have to pay a fee to whoever you're buying it from. On top of that the sooner you have your large farm the better and going boat first means you need 300logs in addition to the 300 for the farm.
I really want to see the army of rowboats making banana runs at launch :p Can easily rush through the quest to get rowboat while bananas are growing and don't have to worry about radar or anything at that point. Real cockblock is going to be when everyone and their mother is trying to get 100 lumber to build that large farm and all the secret tree farms that will be everywhere, criminals will be making bank.

So just played last night for the first time, got to level 15 is all so i'm pretty much as noob'ish as we get since I hadn't even looked at this game prior to downloading it.

1) Is there any PVE raid content or is this really not that type of game at all?

2) Is there PVP venues for fair competition like an arena/battlefront etc or is it 100% open world? While I could find myself enjoying the larger scale stuff I still do like an outlet for small team competition where people are even via numbers (i like gear variation thats fine, just even numbers!)

3) I play bball at 5:30 AM and then work until 6:30-7pm most days, am I going to be fucked on the crafting/harvesting crap being gone this much? Weekends and most nights 7 -1:30 AM i am golden but is there shorter times on harvest etc that is going to get my ass stolen from etc?

4) If there isn't any raid size limited PVE or PVP then is there really any downfall in trying to join a large guild outside of higher % of zerg idiots? (I like a challenge and rather have a smaller group of organized folks but just a general question)

I get the same feeling. I would still drop $60 to give it a whirl. Camon' Trion, lower the price!
ive been thinking of giving the Russian version a try, just to get a feel for the classes and shit, it sucks because the other packages say beta access but don't say that its just beta weekends.

I think the trick will be to have several small farms using yew for fast growth and planting like during the night and picking it up in the morning. You'll still get fucked in some of the farms but should get a decent amount done. Problem is funding this shit, will need to hardcore level inbetween. At least you can plant the farm without actually building it, so you don't technically need the lumber right away.

My plan so far is to not bother with rushing for a farm in tigerspine(or whatever the zone is for western if I play that) but instead rush leveling to get around 4gold. Then make 2 alts, give them 1gold each, get a scarecrow and plant all 3 scarecrows somewhere close to a recall point, wherever in temperate climate. Then start planting all the things for the quest and keep planting cotton or whatever I haven't really decided what's the best product to do tradepacks, so I can run non stop tradepacks once I have a donkey for gilda stars and rush a house and aquafarm plans(29gilda) then go drop these, do the tree shit on my scarecrows mostly but maybe also a bit outside and get a big farm next to my house, hopefully. Might plant one of the small scracrows to reserve the spot for my large farm.

Once I have all the plans done and placed, only then will I bother farming trees and shit. Boat comes later, tbh it's pretty useless unless you're doing trade pack runs on long distances but I don't really need to that early, better get real estate shit done first. Still need to figure out how the tax shit works and what not though, I need to see how much it's gonna cost me, if it's better to go with only 2farms instead of 3 and find a spot and shit. I don't really play the game much though, the lag is insanely annoying so I've been taking it super slow, mostly just collecting my shit and replanting and what not. Plenty of time to check all that crap out.

1) There is PVE raid content; to my knowledge they are all world bosses in contested PVP areas.

2) Yes. Not the focus of the game, but it exists.

3) You can make steady progress solely by developing your own plot of land. You don't have to compete with anyone. That being said, I suspect within a few weeks after launch prices will plummet for most items as bots come online and people start mass producing. There will always be a huge demand for items that come primarily from mob farming.

4) This isn't full sandbox but you can't use the WoW metric. Small groups will get together solely to roleplay and check out each others houses. Other small groups will get together to slaughter their own faction in questing zones. The only thing small groups won't be able to do is hold land on the northern continent. It's not like WoW in the sense that a 10 man guild isn't going to progress in 25m heroics.

Some questions here:

-Full loot pvp? What do you drop when you're killed?

-I don't give a shit about crafting, boats, houses. Can I just hunt mobs, do PvE, PvP, whatever without doing all that crafting stuff?

-Do they sell mounts in the shop? Do they have a cash shop?

No loot PvP, not even gold(or well I didn't try looting gold so maybe there's some).

Can pve/pvp only, but the gear is mostly crafted, so you need gold, which kinda requires either grinding quite a bit or growing stuff. Growing is mostly planting shit and checking it again 12hours later(if you plant trees), so it's not really too bad. There's honor points for pvp too and you can buy some pvp gear, think it's worse than crafted though but you can get gear like that at least.

Not sure if they sell mounts, don't think they do. You can get a lot of different mounts ingame though and they come with skills. They do sell gliders I believe and yes there's a cash shop, it's F2P after all.

Would this work? I know taxes increase a good bit the more real estate you own, would alts circumvent this or is all the real estate you own account wide taken into account for taxes?

edit - nm, found the answer on the forums. 2 farms per character apparently but taxes are account wide. Would work short term for land reservation but would get expensive quick.

Does anyone know what the total taxes are if you own a small house, large farm and small farm?
