It's probably just normal layoffs for a gaming company. Most devs are not needed for the whole development cycle. Money management could be an issue to though.

Right now at 7am pst mid week, Ashes has more players online than ESO and Ashes is just an alpha game. But doom and gloom is par for the course on this site.

it s official. as of 15 minutes ago Magaret posted her farewell post on Twitter. As of the end of day tomorrow, All of the employees will be fired and Intrepid will close

Probably because they broke Linux playability on day 2 patch and it never got fixed.

Seriously though that really sucks.

Edit: folks claiming the Steam release was largely to avoid lawsuits on failing to deliver after draining so much money out of people on cosmetic sales / Kickstarter. Regardless it was obviously a failed last ditch effort.

Tough time for the games industry

Just a guess, but it sounds like he had to give his outside investors more than 50 percent and they voted him out. Back stabbing at that level is very common, Steve Jobs was ousted from Apple by the CEO he hired away from Pepsi (or Coke?). Took years before the Apple board realized their mistake and brought Jobs back.

Sucks, even in it's alpha state the game is pretty good.
