This sucks, not for Ashes of Creation specifically because I always thought that their loop of PVE players building cities for PVP to destroy what doomed from the start, but it sucks for MMO in general because it’s another failure/cancelation. it’s not going to create confidence in investors to support the genre and that just sucks.

I paid for a key but have had serious concerns since Intrepid and Steven had their falling out with Narc. I guess it was too much burn and not fast enough to get to release.

Edit: You just can't launch with WoW/More than WoW functionality straight out of the gate. I mean, Elon could fund it as a passion project but its a moon launch apparently to do an MMO these days. You have to start with a base level of functionality or Star Citizen levels of fundraising and look at what's happened there. Once you get out the door, then you can build on that but trying to serve a full 24 course meal out the gate is going to be a money pit.

That was just a BS story he made up. He started protecting his personal assets in November. It was obvious they had no money left when they went to Steam, and Steam sales were not there, so they closed. There were no investors or getting booted out by a board or anything. They simply ran out of cash and closed up shop.

One issue is they're trying to compete with MMOs that have been out for decades, which is impossible from a scope of content perspective. You can't squeeze 10+ years of content into a game without putting in over 10+ years of effort and/or without a massive budget and development team.

Besides the braindead idea of "pve build city and pvp players nuke it and pve players lose all their shit" which was guaranteed to make this Shadowbane 2.0 (aka dead after a month), he promised too much out the gate which was clearly beyond the ability of their small team and budget to support.

My sentiment exactly, it seemed like they had finally gotten movement and combat into a decent place. I remember watching a video about an old school dev leading a project and explaining that all the new people working on games are complete fuck ups and cucks. I've timestamped the video but the tldr is he asked a dev to to put in some very simple code, he got an estimate of 4 weeks, he called bullshit, the dev's supervisor said 2 weeks, and the guy ended up doing it himself in like an afternoon or someshit.

Bill Trost was on this team correct? He's on their studios website but wasn't sure if that was up to date or not. I haven't heard anything out of him in a bit. Jeff Butler was hanging around THJ and was promoting a game he is working on. Maybe they'll stay away from MnM.... I need it to make it. lol

Lemme see here, he said STEVE "doesn't play games" (screw around) and "Troost" (lmao) knows how to get shit done.

I have bad news if you think they won't launch at least something when it comes to Pantheon or AoC is still gonna "happen".

I support games that aren't corporate slop and all but you had to have serious Smulletitis of the brain if you thought this was gonna beat Pantheon.
