I just finished 1-3. The narrator grew on me. How are the audio versions of 4-6 if you’ve listened to them? I hate multiple narrators since it messes with the flow of the story for me. I’ve yet to find a single narrator I can’t get used to after a few chapters.

I started Hail Mary Monday and I’m halfway through it. Very easy to listen to and entertaining.

Audible has another sitewide sale going. Picked up red rising 4-6, as well has William Gibsons Mona Lisa Overdrive and Count Zero. I read Neuromancer last fall and enjoyed it. I really need to give up my plus membership for a few years to catch up on what I have, but I can never pass up the half off when I try to cancel.

I'm listening to small chests now. The girl doing this is not as good. There are several times where the voice suddenly changes and it's jarring. I'm not sure if it's a different person or the same person on a different day and she's not able to match her own voice day to day. But I do enjoy when she tries to do the sound effects in her squeaky voice.

Listened to all of the Suneater series on audiobook, and while the narration wasn’t mind blowing it was solidly good. Only real complaint was that the narrator changed pronunciations of a couple of things throughout the series.

The books themselves I enjoyed, even if I feel the series overall and especially the last book dragged on a bit too long. First book was probably my least favorite, as it’s a lot of setup

Tried to start listening to the Bobiverse books. Have always been interested because those first few chapters really grabbed me but would always get distracted and end up not resuming. Love Ray Porter too, because Project Hail Mary. But man, now that I've gotten deeper, I couldn't care less about the conflict with the deltoids and gorilloids and didn't expect this to be so much of this book. This worth powering through to get back to more of the stuff that was more interesting to me - the cloning, personalities, etc, or is this all just a taste of what's to come and maybe this isn't for me?

I'm listening to Andy Serkis's recording of LotR trilogy. He obviously nails golem, but does well with all the other voices as well. What has become most important is when a male narrator does a female voice, he doesn't end up sounding like a tranny. Jeff Hays has amazing range. If the narrator cant trick me into thinking its a female reading, then they shouldn't bother changing thier voice much.

It's been 30 years since I read the novels, so some of what's different from the book is a bit forgotten. Dunno if I'll do the Silmarillion next or not, never read it.
