They quote Last Seen in Fantastic Four, but ignore Last Seen in Thunderbolts for both Bucky & US Agent, saying Brave New World instead.

I mean, if last seen is Doomsday itself for RDJ, it should be for all of the others too, presumbly. Lol.

kitty didn't arrive/appear until #129 and didn't join the team until "well" after the pheonix saga, it's been a while. i used to have all the xmen comics from ~120 thru 200- forgot to take my comic boxes out of the basement storage area when i moved to my house 21 years ago...

Just like Infinity War, Doomsday will only be half a movie.

But no, there's been no buildup for it, because they are of course desperately rewriting their Kang plans. Presumably there will be some minor linkage to Doom in Fantastic Four, but that movie already has enough to cover on its own, with introducing that timeline, their origins, Silver Surfer and Galactus, Franklin Richards, and then hopping to our timeline.

I thought Doom was name dropped (maybe in a post-credit bit?) in Black Panther 2, but I am not going to subject myself to that movie again to find out, and that's probably not the RDJ timeline Doom anyway.

I agree. This is going to seem forced and contrived. I'm sure they are going to try and copy deadpool 3, but the humor and charm are guaranteed to miss.

They cant even come close on the humor. They will keep pushing out Jos Whedon Rip off PG schlock.

I guarantee we get a scene that is

Now that I think about it, this may be less due to Doomsday itself than Disney as a whole.

To be clear, the movie was going to be a struggle for May - the Russos had publicly said trying to get it done on time might literally kill them. The FX are a problem, but not for the reason you'd initially think - normally, the big FX scenes are done independently, frequently starting _well before_ the live action filming. But the pivot from Kang came in so late (everyone's hiring only publicized in 2024) that the poor pre-vis guys have probably been working overtime ever since the first drafts of the script came out.

The actual critical issue is.. Disney's a fucking mess. However, Disney still loves - LOVES - their Christmas releases, where they can rake in all the cash from people on holiday breaks. But all of their divisions are in such shambles that their Christmas release pipeline is shot. They get Avatar this year, but that won't realistically get a sequel until 2028+. They had to resort to slotting Ice Age 6 - and keep in mind, that was an inherited Fox property, not even Disney - for Christmas 2026, and 2027 was supposed to be the Rey Star Wars movie (which has apparently been absorbed into the Simon Kinberg trilogy) and obviously isn't happening by then.

I'm sure Disney could have slotted something into those slots - if Frozen 3 actually finishes for 2027, that would seem the choice for that year - but the delays give them more time to fine tune the thing, and keep Disney's Christmas numbers happy (as well as potentially hiding any ticket slumps by conflating them with Christmas moviegoing bumps).

It's funny, I look at that cast list, and the glaring one to me is Shang Chi. It probably explains why these post-Endgame phases are so fucking terrible. Really, it'll be 5 years between movies, and he only ever appeared in the one? I know people hated the movie, but it's like they gave zero effect into building a cohesive universe. They just threw more shit at the wall, and every time the movie watchers said "this sucks," so they pivoted to something else.

I hope they do it Justice.
Dune Part 1 was so good. Part 2 was so terribly adapted and the casting was just a “who’s who” of who is popular atm in Hollywood. But that may just be me. I really don’t like Florence Pugh and Austin Butler / Anya Taylor Joy give me the creeps.

too bad they’ll never turn GEOD into a movie. Can you imagine what kind of acid trip that would be?
