Thing to keep in mind is trailers are always cut in a way where they splice in lines that don't actually happen in the scene they show, or give us snippets with zero context. Plus Disney has made "fake inserts" for trailers before - like the Avengers trailer where they show the Hulk with all the other heroes, but in the final product it was Bruce in a hulk buster suit instead. Best bet is to look at scenes where it would be harder to add some fake outs

Xavier and Eric in that one scene at the X-men mansion makes me think they die shortly after - it had that "this is it, old friend" vibe to it. Xavier is looking at that burning thing in the sky in one scene, so it wouldn't surprise me if it is the destruction of their universe (Fox X-men) happening

The thing I need to keep in mind is that trailers give us snippets with no context?

That’s super helpful and makes a lot more sense, I thought it was the movie lol. Wondered why it was so short.

Jives with the rumors that X is only in it for a brief metaverse scene where their universe is destroyed.

Lying No Way GIF by Bounce
The only thing I have hanging on the wall in my office is a fishing rod rack with some of my fly rods, and the only shelf unit there is has a bunch ammunition and fly tying stuff and reels.

I'll have you know though that I don't own a single Funko doll. I do have some Todd McFarland spawn figures that I got back when maybe I was in high school when I was still collecting comics that are probably in a box somewhere out in the garage. That's about the extent of any sort of collectible that I have, other than the Cthulhu statue I have somewhere. It's just not on display because one of my cats a long time ago knocked it off a shelf and the wings broke off because I bought the $100 resin version out of the previews comic catalog, and I couldn't afford the $250 bronze version when I was 17 or 18.

I was pretty pissed when it happened, but Stinky was a hellion, but also the greatest cat, God rest her soul. Luckily Worm the wiener dog can't get up to anything important.

Oh they’re just randomly throwing characters into the story now without introducing them to the universe? Do they just open up some alternate timeline and those three come stumbling out of the portal and team up with the avengers?

No recently rummaged through and found Spawn. Your argument is invalid!
I have issues at least one through 100. I think I even have the black and white version of the very first issue. I think I also have up into the twenties of Curse of Spawn, which was a fantastic anthology comic dealing with various iterations of Spawn throughout the ages.

Was my favorite comic when I was young apart from the AVP stuff from dark horse.

Russos went out with a bang. I have faith in them for this.
Just a reminder, The Electric State on Netflix was direct by the Russos, with a script by Stephen McFeely... just like Doomsday. I've loved the Russos for years for Arrested Development, Community, etc., but there's a limit to the hole they can dig themselves out of.

Otherwise, this looks just like the Infinity War Speedrun we expect, except with a much higher level of difficulty - aside from a namedrop or two, Doom is new to the audience (Thanos at least had the Nebula and Gamora stuff in the GotG movies); a ton of narrative is held up by characters that were in _one_ movie previously (Shang-Chi, Namor, Fantastic Four, Gambit) - at least Dr Strange also had an extended cameo in Thor 3; you have way too many characters that literally cannot have heard of each other - yeah, "Why is Gamora" was a fun scene in Infinity War, but it was five minutes of the total runtime that was lampshaded by the movie itself (Spidey saying "I don't remember what all your names are" as they're fighting Thanos).

This looks like literally two hours of characters running into each other, saying "I've never met you before, let's have a no stakes tussle", repeat, until Doomsday wins and rewrites the universe. You're gonna need some super memorable moments for that not to instantly fall out of the audience's head the next day - and I'll believe that when I see it.

I watched that trailer.. it's got some decent visuals, but still not grabbing me.

But the much larger problem is, I can't tell if RDJ is trying to do a bad Arnold impersonation, or a bad Nandor impersonation.

Still on the "VOD or the high seas" list for me so far.

My oldest wants to see this. I have only seen the Spiderman movie, Deadpool, FF4, and about 1/3 of the doctor strange movie from this phase.
