Only the barest of bones details are available, but apparently they're already out of planning and in development. Given that 98% of modern studios are completely infected with blue-hair psychopathy and WotC did a running backflip over the shark a decade ago, I am not optimistic.

We can only pray that they update the graphics, UI, and possibly the rules system while leaving the narrative alone. BG 2 is in the Iso-RPG Hall of Fame and arguably the best RPG ever made.

I'm still baffled by the BG1 update character ranting about how hard it is to be transgender when the game had a gender swap belt literally drop two screens south of it at level one.

End of the day it comes down to

1) What dev house handles this?
2) Is it the same game with better graphics, or do they “update for a modern audience”, which is the mother of loaded statements since it goes anywhere from “this old mechanic sucks, let’s give it some modern polish” to “we are rewriting half the dialogue”

From playing BG1, 2 and now 3. I've learned that basically Fearun is a sexually confused and horny realm. I think Larian had a patch early on to tone it down some. Not a big fan of it but whatever at this point. Transgenders, homosexuals, beastiality. It's everywhere. Seems like someone would make a potion or spell to straighten that shit out.

Seriously, lately I haven't found but maybe 1-2 games a year tops I want to play. I have basically played Cyberpunk, BG3, and 7 Days to Die for the last 3--4 years lol.

I mean really that is all they have to do. Give it good graphics, fix the old jank so it feels smooth, some updated FMV, and you're golden.

They are cashing in on the success of BG3. You cannot convert BG1&2from 2nd edition AD&D to 5E and make the gameplay close to the same. The game will be greatly simplified the way 5e is, and theyll call it "modern gameplay improvements."

5e / BG3 fans arent going to play a remastered that involves figuring out magical protections and removing them during angry wizard encounters. Using Breach to remove physical protection spells, secret word / ruby ray of reversal to remove spell turning / spell immunity, having a thief with detect illusion countering a wizard with Spell Immunity: Divination, etc. None of that is gonna happen. They probably wont put in Contingency, Spell Sequencer, or Simulacrum either.

This game will be made for 5e /BG3 fans who want to experience more Baldur's Gate without having to look at old graphics or struggle with concepts like THAC0.
