When did sex become such an important thing in RPGs?
Feels kind of modern, maybe Dragon Age and Mass Effect? Outside of mods ofc.

But back then no one batted an eye tbh.
I'd rather there be no sex of any kind in my RPGs.

Since late millennial/early zoomer progressive hacks started occupying creative roles, exercising their desperate need to make something “real” and “authentic” to reflect their funhouse mirror worldview and assuage their imposter syndrome and other crippling self-esteem issues.

amusingly. Baldurs gate. as far as I can tell, it was Baldurs gate that originated companion romancing.

evil vamp rogue. slug worm bomb in head.
evil shar cleric. slug worm bomb in head.
human wizard cn? bomb in his chest. slug worm bomb in head.
cg gith fighter. slug worm bomb in head.
human warlock slug worm bomb in head.
tiefling barb. also a bomb in her chest.

Party size is 4.

elf druid
drow paladin. bad stats for a paladin. (I didn't really look at the others base stats to class)
human ranger
halfelf.. fighter druid?

no bard, monk, sorc? I thought they said they would have 1 of each base.
I'm not sure on alignment for all of them. or if any of their alignments are flexible.

Bards are pretty strong in 5e. if no npc one, a strong consideration for pc.

paladins in 5e. they are VERY strong if the dm lets you abuse resting. like pretty much every crpg lets you do. divine smite, in 5e is alphastrike crazy. "on weapon hit, you can consume a 1st level spellslot to deal 2d8 radiant damage extra. +1d8 for each spell slot higher then 1st, up to 5d8. +1d8 if undead or fiend. Solid offhealing with lay on hands. and solid auras.
but stats you want 18str+, 14dex,12con, 10-12 int/wis, and 14-16cha.

Yes and sex etc was kept low key, and at the very end of the romance, certainly no awkward cut scenes. At most a fade to black.

Unless they have a few hidden companions, that looks right. There is also the fully customizable The Hunger The Dark Urge Origin (Slug) which will have a story, just like the other companions, but can only be applied to the main character, which kinda sorta counts?

Mort did a 15 min highlight video going over the 4 hour Larian panel (time stamps below (skipped the 20s opening credits)). He keeps the spoilers light and leaves out the heaver ones that Larian dropped:

The replay with this game is what I’m looking forward to. Playing the different classes/sub classes and also the origin characters will last me a while. I can see myself putting in 100s of hours into the game.

It was a pretty insignificant part of the games prior to Mass Effect. Romancing Aribeth in HotU made the persuasion check against Mephistopheles easier, and iirc romancing Bastila in kotor opened up a set of dialogue choices that could not fail to turn her back to the light side.

Then Mass Effect brought along blue alien ass.
