There are only two games with music good enough to even be memorable for me.I can see what you're saying, but you've gotta admit, it's a little campy. You wanna hear the best music ingame? Mass Effect, bar none.

Larian would have been printing hundreds of millions with each DLC/expansion.Imagine if Wizards of the Coast wasn't a piece of shit company and Larian was still working to polish/flesh out the game even further.

Larian would have been printing hundreds of millions with each DLC/expansion.
There are so many areas in the Forgotten Realms that have never been realized with the care and fidelity that BG 3 offers. It genuinely pisses me off that WotC are such massive faggots that we'll never be able to experience more of the game.
Progressive brain rot is an incurable disease, and unless fully excised will destroy any company.Yeah. BG3s success by units sold and people still playing it and wanting more, Larian could probably have made a separate BG studio of sorts. Where they had developers making extra content for it for years where the income from that would have been enough to fuel the development for the rest of the other titles the company wanted to make.
WOTC does not have intelligent leadership.
In an alternate universe, Larian would be releasing Torment II around now while supporting their game engine as a major platform for other devs.Larian would have been printing hundreds of millions with each DLC/expansion.

I doubt anyone at Larian anticipated BG3 doing anything close to as well as it did when they negotiated the right to the IP.In an alternate universe, Larian would be releasing Torment II around now while supporting their game engine as a major platform for other devs.
Conversely, even if WotC came to terms with Larian about BG3 support, I think Larian would rather develop new IP and only did BG3 to make money so they could afford to make the next game. idk how true that really is though.
That's all totally plausible.I doubt anyone at Larian anticipated BG3 doing anything close to as well as it did when they negotiated the right to the IP.
Sven, the CEO of Larian, wanted to make BG3 and seemingly went through a lot to get the rights to it. He talks like a genuine fan of many of the classic RPGs, with him often talking about how Ultima 7 is one of his main influences in game design that he brings with him into every game. I wouldn't be surprised if he has tried to negotiate a contract to make an Ultima game at multiple points of time.
My guess is that there are lines he wont give up when it comes to oversite of an outside company and will never again enter into a more industry standard publisher type deal, where that company has deadlines or veto power. For BG3, they probably negotiated a once in a lifetime deal that did not cover any future work on the IP.
While we don't know the private negotiations with Hasbro/WOTC (assumption being they were hard asses demanding more control/money), we do know that WOTC was trying to develop their own in house table top "video game" that people could create their own campaigns in. It basically looked like they were going to release mod tools, with dated/mediocre animated sprites and art, call it a full game, charge full price, and rely on the community to make content (kinda like Bethesda, but even worse). When BG3 was released, the WOTC "game" was far inferior to what the BG3 engine could do and Larian was promising robust mod tools in the near future. I'm sure there was some back and forth just on that subject alone (speculation).
Finally, Larian doesn't really do DLC, which I agree with, especially in RPGs. Give me a proper classic xpac or nothing, not the retarded nickel and dime 10 hours or less bullshit. So they possibly didn't even negotiate DLC as part of the original deal.
An extension to the Karlach storyline is probably the only thing that would get me to do a second playthrough of BG3. She's one of my all time favorite companions and watching her tragedy play out again would put a somber mood on the whole playthrough. Kind of like the second time I watched HBO's Rome andI would've loved to see a DLC centered around fixing Karlach's engine. It's hinted at during the reunion camp, but it would've been great to see the full resolution.

Homeworld punched me right in the feels. I can still hear kharak is burning or did not survive interrogation to this day when I think about it.There are only two games with music good enough to even be memorable for me.
I don't; WOTC/Hasbro having any direct involvement would make everything worse. They have shown absolutely no in-house talent in the video game industry. The game they are developing looks like utter shit and that's the team that would have gotten any DLC work. And I think it would've been very positive if WotC spun up a "sustainment" development crew that worked with Larian to build DLC / expansions for BG3 while working to make their engine and mod tools a licensed system.
I loved Homeworld when it came out and it's one of my favorite RTSs, but I only remember the game play. I should probably try to go back and play all the old RTSs, but Masters of Magic and Warcraft 3 are about the only ones that I have really replayed since they were originally released.Homeworld punched me right in the feels. Yeah, I agree. This is kind of a more hypothetical situation where WotC isn't a mess.I don't; WOTC/Hasbro having any direct involvement would make everything worse. So, I have no trust that WOTC/Hasbro would be able to make anything resembling the quality of Larian. If Larian is doing all the work, in order to keep the quality that is associated with their name, then why would they want to put up with some simpletons at WOTC breathing down their neck making everything worse.
The homeworld 1 remake lets you experience the game. It changes the gameplay and UI a lot. UI/controls for the better, gameplay for the worse. They just straight up broke formations or how some ships worked. Maybe someone has fixed it by now. The original homeworld has issues running on modern computers.I loved Homeworld when it came out and it's one of my favorite RTSs, but I only remember the game play. I'm enjoying Arknights: Endfield's soundtrack, especially Wuling City. There are only two games with music good enough to even be memorable for me.
