Honestly I'd rank the first 3 pretty equally. The new one isn't bad but they added a bunch of complications that didn't add up to much because the levels are too easy except for the last 3 or so and so far there's no bonus levels. It will probably get better with a few more patches.

No mobile game has held my attention and consistent play like Pokemon Go. It seems p2w sometimes but you don't need to spend a cent to be successful in it. Even if you don't like groups, solo raiding is an entertaining pass-time and motivator for building teams.

It's a game that can both be mindlessly casual and obsessive with both groups of people being able to feel satisfaction.

Good question. It's not coming up for me on the AppStore search either. Reddit doesn't indicate it's released on iPhone. I've only played it on android. Sorry for the tease =/

Clash of Clans showed that wargames could be popular on mobile. Lords Mobile then made a big leap forward and showed that people could take wargames on mobile very seriously. Rise of Kingdoms was released about six months ago and is a solid iteration on Lords Mobile that, imo, is clearly superior to it.

Plants vs Zombies before EA bought Popcap and pumped it full of micro-transactions is my favorite. EA literally took a game that was already released for months (years?) without micro-transactions ... and added them in.

I'm sure you can find the APK of the original somewhere.

i played Celtic Heroes for about 3 year. However, it is (was) very clan based. Some of the worlds were Co-Op and other worlds are free for all, or very anti-noob. It is on both Android and I-Phone/Pad, just research a little to see which world you should join after trying it and proving that it could be a good fit.

It has a very good story line that will last at least six months if you solo.

And your personal look is custom built with in game clothing swag.

Only ones I play at this point are Marvel Contest of Champions and Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes. Both are character collection/leveling games so might not be the most noob friendly since they've both been running for years, but I enjoy it.

Just got a new phone and finally got into Fallout Shelter. Scratches that incremental phone game itch that used to be covered by Clicker Heroes perfectly.

I have a friend who hadn't played a video game in 10 years and suddenly decided to click on a facebook ad for a game called "Guns of Glory", then proceeded to get addicted and spend $30,000 in two months on in game purchases

Holy shit is he rich? Have a wife? Jesus if any non-millionaire did that its absurd ...

There's a WoW style phone game, but you can also play it on your PC via Steam.
AdventureQuest 3D. The game looks very good and it's easy to play. There are a lot of people that play, but they're just there. It's very much a single-player style game.

It's available for Android & Apple. And on Steam.

Give it a shot if you feel like playing a WoW style game, but you don't have a lot of time to dedicate.
Set up your character however you want. Looks are semi-permanent, but you can swap jobs any time via the game menu.
You'll see people classified by their character level and class level. Every class only goes to 10, and characters go up to 27 (I think that's the current cap). And there are 9 or more levels to play, but 2 of the levels require you to pay money to first access each of those classes. Aside from that, you don't need to pay, unless you want to speed up construction time of items, or ignore collecting ingredients.

Are there any turn based rpg games that are completely free or one time charge that are worth my time? I'm getting really fucking annoyed by energy recharge mechanics with pay2win in basically every goddamn game, even more so when the mechanics are legit fun to play. Quit making me wait/pay to play your fuckin game, please.
