That doesnt address how Bookerstock managed to find Lutece, gather followers and build Columbia in a few years. Nor his prophecy powers, its pretty easy to be a prophet when you are a time traveler that knows what is going to happen.

If you watch the credits all the way to the end, you will see a date on a table stating October 8th 1893 in the end game final teaser. I am guessing this may be answered or continued in DLC.

interesting catch she doesn't always bandage the hand BTW - if you pull the gun on the teller she doesn't

Covered via vox - the twins have been jumping timelines constantly stealing tech of all sorts, and they built the city. The timeline stuff makes timeframe irrelevant. Plus you could take some of during the game from Elizabeth to imply she created it via her powers

Random at this point but was anyone else disappointed how they just dumped new guns on you in this game? Felt pretty lame with the volume and rate you ran into new guns.

No, it largely made sense to me since you were mostly scavenging them off their dead

Did Bioshock patch or something? Was buttery smooth through the entire game yesterday, today I started a new game and now when I use the mouse at all to look around it stutters badly, WASD movement is still super smooth but any mouse movement is jerky. What is even more odd is if I move the mouse at all during benchmark testing it causes stuttering too.

Did all the changes I could find on other forums but I doubt anything is going to fix it because I didn't change anything.

Edit:
Even fucking more weird is jerky movements go away when I hold down left or right click, even on the main menu. This is borderline creepy.

I only used the pistol, the carbine, the sniper and occasionally the machine gun. Most of the others did not seem terribly worthwhile.

Ya, I almost exclusively used the sniper, machine gun, and shotgun. Everything else was only used when I ran out of ammo on those three (which on 1999 mode was against any of the "boss" fights). I'm a sucker for guns like the Hand Cannon, but only being able to carry 20ish rounds at any given time makes it too prohibitive. I fully upgraded the pistol's damage and never used it again after the first hour or so of the game...

Not that I'm a huge achievement whore, but I do wish that I had seen the cheeve for not buying anything off of a Dollar Bill on 1999 mode. I definitely COULD have done it, but there were a few times I had a sneaking suspicion something was around the corner and I went ahead and topped off on sniper ammo and the like.

Finished up about an hour ago - hooooly shit what an ending. I had high expectations for this game, but I can safely say it met or exceeded every single one of them. DLC now, plx.

I did pretty much the same thing - upgraded the pistol early on and then tossed it aside. I ran pretty much the entire game with the Carbine and Sniper rifles, though true to my previous Bioshock experiences, the melee weapon saw most of the action.

I had pegged Elizabeth being Booker's daughter fairly early on - though at that point I fully expected them to go full-on Oldboy with it.

I ruled out Oldboy early on because I know Levine is a classy motherfucker.

I feel like I am missing something or someone when I am walking "running" around. Are we able to go back later on in the game to the areas? Or is there some sort of quick travel system?

Ow, my head.

I don't understand what would drive him to want to siphon his daughter and torture his daughter that for some reason he cares so much about. How are they going to do a DLC ...

Just watched through the credits, where's this mythical teaser? Also them singing at the end kind of hammers home the ending. "Will the circle be broken, by and by. There's a better home awaiting in the sky."

Edit#123455: OK just looked it up on youtube. The date's importance is that is the day he gave away Anna to the twins to erase his debt. He's back at that conjucture in time and since he chose death in the "multiverse" it killed off all of his alternate egos and all versions of Elizabeth putting him back at that point. To wipe away the debt and to start over.

Very early on someone calls Elizabeth "Annabelle", which effectively spoilered the game for me since Booker elsewhere wakes up crying "Anna!". So I knew that she was his daughter and that he was probably alternative-timeline-Comstock [given the whole ambiguity about who E/A's mother/father were]. Kinda weird that that turned out to really be the substance of the game. I was happy going back to Rapture. Too bad no level there. Bioshock 1 still owns this game, but pretty decent overall. I wish the gameplay had been a little tighter: the vigors and the weapons generally felt underpowered to me and, like many, I ended up using sniper rifle and machine gun plus whatever when I (often) ran out of ammo. Would have preferred fewer, more interesting vigors since I didn't find many of them as useful as I had hoped. I also didn't really understand the point of making two versions of most weapons...one red one blue...okay...some minor differences but not enough to really worry about where you were investing cash.

yeah. that date is the date it always is, in the "head private eye room".
some of the timeline/2 universes thing doesn't add up 100%. Booker in game, says the baptism took place 20 years ago. And then after giving up Anna, wasted 20 years drinking, before being taken to columbia.
1875 born. Wounded knee was 1890. Anna was born 1892. 1893 anna was sold. so, when exactly did the baptism take place? before or after anna?

If before, then the timeline splits there. in one, he is reborn. Finds religion, becomes a fanatic, racist, etc, and meets Letuce. Within 3 years mind you.( a point of contention. he does appear to be about 40, when we see him and Letuce taking the child.) Using the machine, leaves him impotent. But peering into the portals of alternate timelines, he sees he needs a child. And sees an alternate version of himself who does have a child. and decides to take her. So in the end, what happens is, you go back to the baptism, every reality that has been spawned from that baptism, will not occur, if it never happens. So they drown Booker before he can be born again. The problem now is, well if booker died before being baptized, then how can that post credit scene occur?

if after, then the baptism is a reaction to both wounded knee AND giving up Anna. Its now 1893. columbia is forming, and comstock already exists. For this, we should probably consider a circular timeline. And possibly two baptisms. Simply, Booker lived through the game, but instead of drowning, choose to be reborn, and wash away his sins. in previous realties. So you have a primer situation. born in 1875. gave up anna in 1893, drank for 20 years. was taken to columbia via the twins. killed comstock. Choose to go back in time, to the baptism in 1890. now is 40ish, and has knowledge of the future. (problem. this booker would know full well what is going on. and not be delusional about prophecy, archangels, know he cant have kids, not be surprised about having to kill lady comstock, etc..) steal his own kid, and so on.
Now, in the end, booker at the nexus, would be both at the same time.

Much of the rules of alt realities get fudged here and there. if entering a new reality you "merge" with your other self, and get their memories, etc. as seen by Lin, the dead police, etc. then how is there booker and comstock? how is there male and female Letuce? How is there a revolutionary Booker and comstock in that other reality? that booker lived there. and when our booker travels to that reality his mind merges with revolutionary booker. that kindof directly flys in the face of booker=comstock.

I hope the DLC is just vignette after vignette of Booker dying, and the lutece's twins reseting him, and changing minor variables.

vigors probably should have gotten a bit more discussion admittedly. All this to do about Liz's tears... meanwhile they are just GIVING away, tonics that let you mind control people, making them murder their friends, and then inducing them to commit suicide.. it is a weird disconnect there. especially as no one else is using them. Save slate and shock jockey. If everyone did use them, ok. no explanation really needed. Or if they were, pulled back, and presented as something not available to anyone else. Aka, the shield the twins give you. ok.

Finally got around to finishing it. Pretty good shit. Kinda surprised that I missed 5 telescopes/box things and 10 recordings since I totally putz'd around searching every little corner I could find and took forever to get through the game. Got every achievement except those two and the two 1999 ones, I guess I can knock those 4 out together using a guide.

I don't think this is really a spoiler.

But I am kindof shocked thinking about, and going back through all the old media. So much of that is not in the game at all. Its kindof remarkable how many scenarios, etc they made just for promo.
