heh. Why can't fruitcakes like this join religions that ban modern tech? No electricity, no computer, no problem!

Meh, some of the comments on the new sites on stories about the Marathon bombing are making me unduly pissy. Apparently there ARE people who annoy me more than the tinfoil hatters; the ones who are blaming the events on the "War on Religion". 'If only the terrorist had grown up in a religious family, this wouldn't have happened!' etc.

Finally beat it. Amazing game. Best game i've played in a long time. Are parts 1 and 2 worth picking up?

Yeah, they are like 5-10 each, first one is bigger on the environment, story and atmosphere, second one has much tighter mechanics but suffers from the "cash-in sequel" syndrome and wasn't made by Irrational.

Just finished it. Fantastic game. Mind blown. Really hoping they explore the Rapture/Columbia link in the DLC.

No. Infinite as a whole package is a very amazing experience, but it has only above average gameplay.

Infinite has exponentially more impressive gameplay than Bioshock 1. Though I managed to finish Infinite no problem, I just got too bored of Bioshock 1 gameplay to give a crap. I haven't played Bioshock 2, but i think some people say it's worst than part 1.

Mind = blown. The game spoils itself in the opening sequence:

Cover of a Beach Boy's song, or vague plot summary?

"I may not always love you,
but long as there are stars above you,
you never need to doubt it.
I'll make you so sure about it.

God only knows what I'd be without you.

And if you should ever leave me,
though life would still go on,
believe me,
the world could show nothing to me.
So what good would living do me?

God only knows what I'd be without you."

Assuming someone sits there and watches the gondola song 1500 times and does nothing else it might be a spoiler. Otherwise it was nothing but a wtf moment and a hint after the fact. Like most folks, I was too busy oogling over graphics and wondering when combat began to give more than a passing thought as to why The Beach Boys were being played on a Gondola.

I knew it was a Time Travel game based on the conversation in the boat "He never rows." But the actual reveals take MUCH longer. Really not until the Gunmaker gets pwned.

A couple months after playing and finishing this game, and having some time to digest the experience and mull it over, I am looking back at this game much the same way I look back at Christopher Nolan's Inception. I am not fully sure of what I experienced but I think it was really damn good. That said, I probably would never want/need to experience it again.

I will leave the duty of assigning a score to the game to reviewer's with more perspective than me. All I know is that I don't necessarily look back or feel all that great about the game or the experience. It was melancholy to say the least. I remember being more frustrated with the run and gun gameplay than excited. I remember being more depressed by the story than wow'ed. I hope Ken Levine's next venture takes him out of the Bioshock universe and in to something new and very different.

I think I'll go back and replay it at some point on the easiest setting just to see all the things I may have missed during my first playthrough on 1999. I too wasn't a huge fan of the actual gameplay, but I think the game as a whole was the most satisfying game I've played to date.

Just finished it. Mind not blown. The twists were ok but they really did a disservice to this game by taking three separate great stories (Comstock's new world and religion, Vox Populi revolt, the twins scientific breakthroughs) and mushed them all into something that had too little exposition on any one of them. It had notes of brillance but just fell flat. Maybe I'll think more on this tomorrow, but I definitely think that 1's atmosphere and story were better.

Let me be clear that I thought it was a great game; but I really think they left a lot of untold story that would have really made it a better game. I will really be angry if those untold stories are explained in DLC.

the aggravation caused by the lack of a save function cannot be overstated. whose fucking idea was that? accidentally miss something? sorry, but you have to restart the chapter. oh, and thanks for telling me i won't be able to backtrack AFTER i pass through the turnstile.

as long as this game spent in development, it still felt rushed.

If I had to guess, I'd say that implementing a fully functioning save versus checkpoints saved a ton of time on development. When I tried to implement a save feature to my student game (we also used unreal engine) it was a nightmare getting the scripts to work properly from loaded saved games (if they saved in the middle of a scripted event, it just straight up would break every time). I suppose they could've just made it so that you couldn't save during certain times (it would be as easy as disabling the button at the beginning of the script and enabling it at the end). Maybe they tried it, and it felt bad. Hard to say.

Anyway, that's not to say that being able to save when you want wouldn't be better, but when it comes to dollars versus sense, well, dollars will almost always win.
