Never got my Secret Hitler tracking number. I'll need to figure out who to invite to game nights now that I have a house.

This looks pretty awesome, can't find where to buy or how much but I'm gonna keep an eye on it, I live conan and the minis look good

Unboxing: Conan - Bell of Lost Souls

Its a pretty fun game. My wife and I put together a PNP version of it during the Kickstarter (just search Conan and it comes up) to see if we would like it. Needless to say, we ended up with a Kings pledge and all the exclusives. The game is shipping to backers in October, so i would think it would be coming to retail shortly after. Very excited to get mine. You can look more into it a BoardGameGeek. As for where to get it: Miniature Market

I realize that the licensing deal between FF and GW might just have run it's course but not renewing it might mean a move by GW towards producing more board games in the future...

They have been (GW) been dipping a little more into the board gaming market as of late and have been actually doing a good job of it. The only games I am sad to see go on this list are Talisman, Fury of Dracula, and mostly Warhammer Quest the card game. I know that anything owned by GW like (not just theme) Fury of Dracula is probably lost, but I think we may see a reskin of Warhammer Quest and out of all the titles, thats the one I will miss the most.

Board game convention in Buffalo this weekend. Not running anything this year so time to play different new games and enjoy myself.

Two Savage Worlds sessions. One with new Savage Worlds: Rifts and one custom conversion of the Pathfinder We Be Goblins module. Both extremely good times. Rifts was just awesome, huge damage numbers and the enemies to back it up. WBG was a lot of fun, killed three dogs and a horse and a spider named Many-Legs-Who-Takes-Goblin-Babies. One more session today.

Played in a Pandemic Survival game. 12 groups, each with the same two Roles, Dispatcher and Quarantine Specialist, the same sequence of Player cards and a central ref calling out Infections and Six Epidemic cards. Each player had a round of 1m:15s to make their moves and discuss strategy. Lots of fun. Really intense. Wife and I were the 4th to last people to get eliminated.

In addition to that we've filled empty time with board games. Played Kingdom Builder, some Agricola (ran out of time before our next event), Shadows Over Camelot (ditto), Tiny Epic Kingdom Defender, and Dirigible Disaster, which we bought.

Overall a really good time. There's also an auction to benefit Child's Play. Not sure how much they raised overall but they managed $785 in the annual "Torture the Con Director" item. This year they're buzzing his hair off and shaving his beard.

Actually dusted off my copy of base Catan last night to play some games with people who don't really play boardgames.

For all the shit it gets for being an "entry" level boardgame and with the randomness of dice rolling it's really refreshing to not have to explain a game for an hour while doing some crazy set up for new players.

Fantasy Flight Games will no longer be carrying Games Workshop licensed products.

A New Path Forward

Get your copies of Talisman while you can!

We knew this was coming when they stopped listing new releases for Conquest and when FFG announced they were making a miniatures game (their contract with GW forbid them from it which is how IA ended up as a "board game"). It's too bad. I like the GW world. I love FFG games. No expansion for Forbidden Stars is really the true loser here though. I was interested to see what they did to that game since it was basically a reskin but has lots of expansion potential.

Word on the street is that they are getting the Blizzard license again.

Just ordered the 2 Blood Bowl Team Manager expansions since I didn't have them and didn't want to try to track them down after being discontinued. I've only played the base game a few times, but I like it.

Had the first real boardgame night at my house. It was originally supposed to be a Blood Bowl double-header, but a couple guys had a change of plans, so I just tried to get enough people over for Secret Hitler which just arrived this week.
We started with 5 people. First game the Fascists won by electing Hitler. Second game I shot Hitler when I was president. Third game we had a 6th person show up, so we added another Liberal card. The Fascists came into power and shot two liberals and ended up electing Hitler again.

It was really fun...easily my favorite Social Deduction game that I've played. Ended the night with 3 of us Blood Bowl guys playing Team Manager. Finally went through an entire game...the rulebook is horrible and we had to make a few decisions on the spot. I need to look up a playthrough or errata when I get a chance.

Also, for any of you interested in sports and boardgames, there's a new kickstarter that brings the feel of NFL Blitz to the tabletop. I already went in to get a player named after me for $89, but it has a low entry price of $49 if you're interested.

I hope they re-release the WoW and Starcraft boardgames. Always wanted to grab them but not paying the crazy ebay prices for them.

I didn't like the Warcraft board game, just didn't flow very well and one group always ran away with it or everyone lost and couldn't beat the last guy.

Interesting...at $15 I'll back it. Need some more quick, fun games to kill time when waiting for the whole group to show up.

Friend busted out a copy of Hnefetafl last night (Viking Chess)... Hnefatafl Board - The Viking Board Game

Shit it's fun but even with a 2:1 advantage the attackers are at a disadvantage. We played with an 11x11 board instead of the 9x9, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Kingdom death is going to do another Kickstarter to reprint monster starting late november. No details but I'm hoping to grab a copy for a reasonable price... we'll see

I doubt they'll be too deeply discounted - more likely to include additional content than to be truly cheaper. Worth it regardless though. I need some Lantern Festival.
