Gloomhaven Digital is currently free on Epic (via twitch Prime) if looking for a quick way to give a try. Though for many people the digital version seems to have replaced the physical version.

Would echo that Jaws of the Lion is not just a good entry point for the franchise but for some it is the best version of the game for them. My group recently finished the campaign and I think I prefer the ease of setup and shorter campaign of JOTL. Got a bunch of campaign games to get through, not looking for a single lifestyle game to last for years.

There’s not much I’m aware of that is quite like the *havens. Plenty of coop campaign games, but nothing with that brand of card/hand management.

If you just want coop campaign and you like Greek mythology, Aeon Trespass Odyssey has been pretty damn cool. It’s heavier on the story, albeit it’s an actual good story unlike Gloomhaven and I’m assuming Frosthaven, which are quite generic.

They're is the fan made booster called The Crimson Scales, it might be hard to find but it's a large expansion to Gloomhaven.

Probably near impossible to find these days, but it is entirely print and play. We 3d printed all the minis and bought the game, but the files are all completely free and you could print them on cardstock or sleeve them if you want

We packed up Gloomhaven and picked up Grimcoven - I wouldn't say its necessarily similar - it's a boss battler co-op, so close enough, but the mechanics are dice based and it's reasonably complex. The map is hexagonal, the minis are pretty high quality, so it *feels* similar, but there's no real town or character progression week to week, itemization is limited, you don't level up or get perks or anything to make the next scenario easier, and the story doesn't appear to be that great. We beat a few of the bosses before some RL stuff got in the way about 6 months ago, so haven't dug too deeply into it.
