Watched it last night. I enjoyed it, had a few lol moments for sure. There were a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming that made the movie a lot more enjoyable.
I was expecting a lot more from the republican convention scene tho.

some parts were funny, i really laughed at the beginning when the Ubzek leader said Obama had led to Africans taking over Western nations and then they showed a picture of Trudeau in blackface. The fertility dance was horrific in its level of cringe and audience reactions, but I never really got why Debutante balls, Quincineras, etc exist anymore either.
It got super preachy though, you could just feel Sacha Baron Cohen's disdain of Trump and Trump voters through big segments of the movie. Ironically I thought the two quarantine guys were super cool and just good regular dudes.
the babysitter segments was the most unbelievable to me, pretty much the entire plot of the movie hinged around her doing certain things "right" and it feels like she was an actress who was told exactly what to do. I wonder if they tried that with 3-4 normies who all did basically the exact opposite and they had to stage it.

Yeah the last quarter of the movie really kinda falls apart, it feels like they pushed so hard to get a GOTCHA moment for anyone tied to the Trump admin that they lost sight of making it funny. Both the Guliani and the CPAC stuff was pretty tame and boring.
It woulda been way more fun to see more insane people just spouting their views on covid, vaccines, China, Bill Gates, Facebook, etc. I would have loved if he had interviewed some people in NYC or SF or LA who believe America should stay locked up for the next 10 years and that covid kills 80% of people it infects or something, and juxtapose that with normal people who just have to do work and don't have the luxury of hiding behind gated compounds with zero contact lifestyles. Sadly the constant "gotta expose right wing lunatics" was the only thing they wanted to do.
