This wasn't even on my radar and I had wrote it off a while ago. I saw some reviews and noticed the positive hype for it after release and decided to purchase it. Now, I'm at around 100 hours played on this and it's been great. Im just taking my time exploring trying to 100% everything. There are some bugs and UI issues, but it has still been worth my investment. They are releasing weekly patches which keeps improving the game. They also avoided throwing the nerf bat at some broken builds/interactions right away which helps. They were also kind enough to let the community know there are some nerfs coming. I probably missed out on some fun due choosing to play a non broken build. My understanding is that's how they killed Wonderlands. I did not play BL3 but I did recently play Wonderlands and it felt like a slog to get through compared to this. Saying it's better the BL2 is a bit much but definitely one of the better ones, 2nd best maybe? I haven't played 1 in a long time.
My biggest cons are the cash grab dlc bundles. I think that's what really sinks this game from gaining higher praise for me. Also, the endgame needs improvement right now.

The only aspect of BL2 that is objectively better than BL4 is Handsome Jack, everything else will be a matter of taste.
Apart from a few absolutely insufferable characters 3 was great. Especially the girl, wtf were they thinking??

Yeah that's the thing, I already heard all these same comments from people trying to convince me BL3 was a good/fun game back when that released. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and shame on me. That seems to be the case with just about any long running franchise that's clearly been declining lately, there's always going to be those people who still rush out to buy the latest entry and try to convince everyone it's fun talking about how much they have been playing it. True that could be genuine, or it could just be sunken cost fallacy, but I just know I am not happy with the studio or their last entry so that's enough for me to steer clear until it's at least heavily discounted.
Can't understand or relate to the mentality of needing to buy every big new release game and having the time to play them throughly right away anyways. That's just something I could never keep up with, I have a ton of games I find far more appealing in my backlog.

Haven't spent too much time with new character. Splashzone missile shield and crappy Bod from Axemaul are still a riot. Probably the worst Bod one can get, but it still wipes floor. Got a pretty good Phosphorus from keys I had saved up....basically a tiny Bod.

It is alright if you like the Bordlerlands universe. I love it, so that colors my reaction to it a bit. Gunplay is on point, and there are some fun weapons. I have a shield that shoots missiles at mobs when I kill one, and I use Bod shotgun which shoots like an SMG. PURE WRECKAGE. There's one mini boss fight that I love. 3 mini bosses in an outdoors area with mobs everywhere. WWIII level mayhem.
Unlike BL3 which had OP builds and weapons which were nerfed into the ground, this has OP weapons and builds which they left alone.
World design is pretty slick, usual Borderlands style of things. Plenty of mini bosses to farm over and over for gear you want. Story is there. Quests are alright even though some are a drag.
There's not much flavor in terms of NPC character design. I get they wanted to tone it down from BL3 which had never ending fucking dialogue, but they went a bit too far. A bit too bland in that regard.
Open world design. Fast vehicles. Fast travel spots for mini boss farming. Lots to do.
On sale, palatable at $35.

It's fun. C4sh and Loveless have been really fun to play. Contagion Loveless reminds of Freyna from TFD, but I'm sure they will nerf the range on the spread, if they hope they buff the Contagion Action Skill and Augments as they feel a bit weak.
Of the two Story packs, I'm having a lot more fun in the new one, plus the Vault Card SMG that was also released is a much better version of my favorite base gun, Combo Combo.
