Really good doc. I didn't realize how wild and legendary their 80s shows were

Also... I've never seen Al Jorgensen so sober in my life

Bisi, thanks for posting this one. Definitely on the list now.

After all, Jesus built my car. It's a love affair. Mainly Jesus and my hot rod...

Was the first CD I ever got as a kid so probably safe to say yes, even though it's a different band.
I was already a teen when CDs came out, so I ended up buying one for my Sega CD. Best of Queen because Bohemian Rhapsody was popular because of Wayne's World.

I too had a Sega CD, I mean I guess I was a teenager when I got Psalm 69. But I might be a couple years younger than you, even though I am becoming an old man, or at least my legs tell me that.

The fly fishing hobby probably puts me a decade older though.

First Cd player I bought I went to the local electronics store, I told the guy I was interested in a CD player but I'd hear the CD's were delicate. He asks me if I like Van Halen , I say of course. He pulls Diver Down out of his little folder book and slings it across the store to where the CD players were, picks it up and plays it. I bought the CD player, and that CD.

I mean I had a CD player before I got the Sega CD, you just don't run into many people that owned a Sega CD.

My first one was a little boombox of some sort, before they became portables, but I guess a boombox was still portable. The Walkman style deals was the first true freedom of being able to walk around with the CD especially if you had some sort of version that had the anti-skip feature for riding a bike or jogging, and not the magician style of jogging.

I do remember back in college though when I was up at the bar one evening during the summer at the Fox and hound with all the dudes from the printer team. Ways to go up there on $2 pint night on Thursdays after work. My truck got broken into and my phone book thick 200 CD binder got stolen along with my CD player out of my 91 F-150.

I did use the insurance money to put an MP3 player in, and they were relatively new at the time. I never had a legitimate CD in my truck ever since then, just kept them at home and would rip stuff.

At that point you just needed one of the smaller wallet cases to carry hundreds of songs versus having that phone book deal to carrier your collection.

I had a Sega CD and the 32X thing , last Sega product I bought. Felt completely ripped off. Then to top it, I bought an Atari Jaguar. Right around then I got my first PC , a fast ass (at the time) Packard Bell Pentium 90 ! Bought it, got it home, realized I had no idea how to use it. Read the manuals and drank beer all night poking around with it. Around Sunday I got to the part where you can add RAM and opened the thing & took it apart. Just paid $3K for it too.

Had a buddy that had a 32x but I never got one. My first PC was Packered Bell Pack Mate from Sam's. I think it was maybe about a grand.

486 Dx2 66mhz, 8mb RAM, 420mb hd, dual speed CD-ROM, and I think 9.8k modem or whatever was in that slot, all I know is I got a 28-8 US robotics for Christmas one year, and there was blazing fast compared to what was on board originally. I eventually ended up upgrading to 16 MB of RAM, and a CD burner! Hey it ran all the old SSI games perfectly fine, command and conquer, Warcraft, Duke nukem 3D, Doom, quake, and one side upgraded to Windows 95 with a Bard copy from my best friend's dad, D2.

It's really is crazy to think about those old machines and the games we used to play on them, and they were beasts compared to the pocket calculators that most people had within their homes during that time frame.

CD players were expensive in the beginning. Not something I would pay for with my Pizza Hut money. I was all in on video games and computers. Sega CD was 1992, a year or three before CD-ROMs took off.

I sometimes use "Pepper" by the Butthole uSurfers to start a stream on YouTube music. Always gets you a nice mix of weird music from the 90's. The other song I like for that is "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" by Cake.
