Not sure what thread this belongs in, so if it needs to be moved, that's fine.

I was going to buy a Kawasaki KRX side by side about 5 years ago but decided to wait for who knows what reason. I'm about 50yrs old so I probably would've only used about 40% of it's capability anyway. The less aggressive models are getting more popular and can be had with A/C, heat, power windows, windshield wipers, etc. I'm about 90% positive I want to get the 2026 Kawasaki Ridge HVAC, but at $30k it's a tough purchase due to how much it will actually get used. I'm not worried about spending the money but I might get pissed seeing $30k sit there if it only gets used a few weeks per year on vacation. Basically I want it even though it's not the smartest purchase.

Anyone here have a side by side or use them? If you had to pick one of these, which color? I'm a little worried that blue might fade into a 'sky blue' color, but who knows.

I have 2 John Deere Gators and I kind of hate them. It's rare that one or the other of them isn't in the shop. I'm trying to use them on a daily basis so it might be different for someone who's just fucking around with them on the weekend. When I got them in 2020 I went that way because the Polaris Rangers had a terrible reputation for reliability but I can't imagine they would have been much worse than the gators. I think reliability is kind of an issue with these things in general though. They are just a gigantic heavy vehicle to treat like an off-road bike, the 4 door ones especially. I like them for certain things and they make it so my 9 year old nephew can come along in a safe way while we're moving cattle but if not for him I don't know if I would have one. I'd much rather ride a 4-wheeler. They are just far more nimble and you can see so much better on them. Also they're like 1/4 of the price. Trying to move cows with the side by side is just infuriating because they are so big and have such a huge turning radius. Also thanks to the visibility issue, my Mom has high-centered the side by side on rocks and stumps so god damn many times. I do have one neighbor that has a Kawasaki but I've never really asked his opinion about it.

I think if I just wanted to use one on vacation I'd look into renting. You can probably rent one a lot of times for $30,000 and you don't have to worry about storing it or repairing it in between.

They are really popular here in the high desert. Everyone I know that has bought one inevitably has it in their garage and/or yard collecting dust for the 1-2 times a year they go play at dumont dunes.

The Kawasaki's are supposed to be pretty reliable and the only brand to come with a 3 yr warranty. All other brands are only 1 yr, so they're out. I do have a fairly new quad and use it just enough to justify it's $8000 cost. My wife won't drive a quad but she said she won't have any issues sitting in the passenger seat of a side by side all day just looking at the scenery.

That's what I'm most worried about. I watch videos of guys having a kick ass time on the trails but wonder just how often they really go out there. It's a hard purchase for something that sits most of the time. I pretty much made up my mind to get one next week, but keep second guessing myself. I might have to think about it some more.

I had a Kawasaki quad for a long time. 0 malfunctions and was exactly like new when I sold it.

I have a Kawasaki Terix side by side and you have to keep up on the maintenance. Its a difference between having one last 5K hours or 20K hours. There is also specific break in cycle you have to follow, make sure you do. Oil is cheap and kind of a pain in the ass to do but you must do it. As well as the diff oil. Depending on how dusty of an area you ride in, I would also suggest a better than stock air filter. I got like a $100 one and some proper air filter oil for it. That shit is also a must if youre in a dusty ass place like I am. Amazon has the whole kit to change oil for like $40 or some shit with the real Kawasaki stuff.

As far as using it, I mean we have a cabin in the woods so we use the shit out of ours in the summer. Park it in our pole barn when done. But if you dont and have to trailer the thing somewhere to use it, well I mean thats up to you.

All I ever see are Polaris side by sides. Some of them cost more than a large family car, it’s idiotic.

I think some of them must weigh more than a family car as well. I was in the ATV dealership the other day and I can't believe how big those things have gotten.

Edit: I looked it up and yes, the Polais Ranger XD 1500 has a curb weight of 5035 lbs. That's not just bigger than a car, it's pushing the weight of a full sized pickup truck.

They don't make any sense. You could just buy a new jeep for the same price.

That's good I guess, sucks it took so long. This is why no one likes the police, they have a bad rep the old fashioned way, they earned it.
checking out more shit about my state i find the battle of athens

tldr sheriffs have been rigging elections since before the war and contined to after the war, and in 1946, vets were getting tired of "looks like you got a broken taillight" (cuz the only ppl who had money were vets, cuz all the fines went to the popo)

All right I figured I'd check with you guys to see if I could figure out my current issues. Needed to swap out my spark plugs and ignition coils on a 2016 f150 2.7 l EcoBoost turbo. Got to pack off Amazon (KAX) that had good reviews, pre-gapped plugs that all checked out and packs that looked exactly like the ones that were OEM on the truck.

Spent yesterday morning at my dad swapping them out, and I got a check engine light. Brave it back home and could detect misfiring, and jump back on the Amazon and ordered a BlueDriver Bluetooth diagnostic tool, which came in this morning, and I'll add it's pretty awesome.

Anyways, I'm getting error codes for coils two and three which are on the passenger side, middle one and the one against the firewall.

Did the swap trick on number two with one and I'm still getting the same error and nothing where the original number two was in the one slot.

Friday though when I was going to get my vehicle inspected, my damn truck wouldn't turn on and I had to diagnose it in the parking lot, and ended up being a relay on number 66 that goes to the power control module. Swapped it with something that wasn't being used and fired right up.

I don't know if I got too bad coils, or if maybe I'm having problems with the PCM. Checked all the wiring harnesses, connectors for seated tight, I mean I was gentle with everything swapping stuff out yesterday.

Ended up running the stupid AutoZone today and the only coil pack they had on hand was $75, and come to find out they charge $120 for a motorcraft. When the hell did they skyrocket in price for over the counter sales I have no idea but I'm not paying that.

I'm waiting on the damn engine to cool off for me to go back out there and at least try that other one and see if I can get rid of one of the codes.

I've swapped out coil packs and stuff on all of my f-150s and I've never encountered something like this. I'm just worried it might be a bigger problem. I was also getting misfires prior to swapping everything which is the reason I went ahead and embarked upon this.

Any help would be appreciated.

No clue what your problem is, but never buy anything but OE, and never off Amazon. Lots of fakes on Amazon, and they comingle inventory so you can get fakes and genuine all in one order. I'd double check all the plugs, too. Lots of fakes of those on Amazon.

How old is the truck? PCMs failing is relatively rare. Also, if you swapped relays and it was totally fine, it's likely just a bad relay - which is much more common. Get a relay tester, they're relatively inexpensive and then get a proper OE relay for that spot.

Did you check service information before replacing the coils and plugs? Many newer vehicles have all sorts of sensors and shit that might need to be adjusted/readjusted prior to remove/replace procedures.

he said 2016 f150 2.7 l EcoBoost turbo right in the post. I have no idea other than to add that fuses don't just go bad, something caused a short (which I'm sure you already know). This is why I pay someone else to work on cars. It only gets worse too, I had to go to the dealer to replace a fucking battery because the local shop could do it but couldn't flash something and I'd get an error code. These things are as locked down now as commercial John Deere tractors.

Just wait until car manufacturers get their way if they ever update the OBD2 ports to 3 - each manufacturer will get to control it because this country doesn't give a shit about monopolization anymore.

How's the ground strap between your engine and frame? If it looks decent, you might still want to try backing out the bolt, then driving it back in. That's a lot of unique failures happening all at once.
