This was good, was nice to have 3 episodes off the bat so you can get the feel of what they are going for. Its a must if you are a King fan.

It's sorta funny that King blew up Castle Rock in 1991 in Needful Things because he was done with the setting to have a show centered around it get made over a quarter century later. It was the first book he wrote after kicking booze/pills and I guess was his way of moving past that time in his life. He's said that he doesn't even remember Cujo at all and he likes that one quite a bit. Imagine being so fucked on hootch that you write a best seller and remember none of it.

I think I've read all the stories centered around Castle Rock? If this show doesn't have Ace Merril in it I'll be sad. The movie adaptation of Needful Things was desperately missing that cheap dime store hood.

Only saw 1 episode, so far it's ok. I like the references to previous books/movies (for example mentioning the bullet hole from Warden Norton to the new Shawshank Warden). We'll see where it goes.

I though the first three were pretty good.

Young stalker is much creepier than adult stalker.

Thought experiment - does knowing the girl next door cums when you jerk off make you do it more or less ? ;p

Does she look more like Chelsea Clinton or Ivanka Trump?

Is this in 4K HDR on PS4/Xbone? I remember for a while Hulu only did 4K on consoles and not Roku, FireTV, PC, etc. but not sure if that's still a thing.

Wish they'd get with the times and release the full season at once too.

Needful Things was a huge disappointment for many reasons.
have you read all these?

Castle Rock (Stephen King) - Wikipedia

Works set in Castle Rock
i read all but the last 4.
dark half is a shitty book and i dont rememeber It Grows On You, but the rest are pretty solid. lots of characters to work with. the show should be able to come up with something good if the writers are fans of King's works.

Stephen King may be a washed up hack with TDS now, but back in the 70s and 80s when he was juiced up with creativity and other substances, he was fucking badass.

I kinda want to see what the later stories are about as I do have some fondness for Castle Rock. Stand by Me was one of my favorite films as a kid, one of my short list of tapes I was renting just all the goddamn time. When I eventually read Different Seasons I was hooked. There was a stretch there where I was just reading everything he'd ever done one after another after another. I really liked how some of his stories were very lightly interwoven, that they took place in the same world. I didn't have much experience as a reader and it that was the first time I really came across that concept. Sadly it would be a huge part of what I would come to hate about The Dark Tower series upon its conclusion. It was such a letdown.

The most recent book of his that I've read was Full Dark No Stars and I fucking hated it. Before that was Doctor Sleep and it wasn't awful but it was just plagued with some of the problems his writing always has - the villain is really dumb and his final confrontations/ battles are assy. After reading through stuff like The Dresden Files or Game of Thrones I have some high expectations when it comes to action scenes and King's action writing has always been whatever.

Will still probably watch this show though when I have a chance. Even if I don't like contemporary King and his tweeter feed is poop I'm still not against checking out stuff with his name attached. I thought Gerald's Game on Netflix was pretty great aside from the last 15 minutes. Even that fit as King tends to not end stories all that well.

I'm really enjoying this slow, even though its current strategy of a super slow burn until something awesome happens may begin to feel tedious and anime-esque.

All the ads I had been seeing for this I thought it was starting its second season. When I realized there was only 3 episodes when I sat down to watch this week I was very sad

The remake is about as good as I think anyone could reasonably hope for. Unfortunately it is very much a modern day horror film in that it is not patient. It has more jump scares than it needs and is louder than it needs to be. It would have been much, much scarier if they just took their time a little more and let the tension build but it's current year and that isn't what mainstream horror is at the moment.

The kids do a great job and their dialogue is very natural. I could see some of the kids I hung around with in them. I watched it a second time when it came out on DVD and still liked it so that's probably a good sign.

In terms of faithfulness it is set in the 1980s instead of the 1950s. You don't have all the kids plagued by the old Universal Studios monsters, etc. The personalities of the kids are on point but Mike has nothing to do and Stan doesn't get to do all that much. If you haven't seen it than I'd give it a thumbs up.

I was afraid it was all jump scares and clown being clown stuff. as long as they show him using some of It's Glamours, then i guess it might be worth a shot.

That actor from IT is pretty awesome in this, saw the first 2 episodes last night and they were good so far.

Latest episode was good. I kind of saw the ending coming but feels like he was controlled by the devil kid instead of just losing his mind.

Loving the show. Skarksgard is so good with the few moments he gets.

I think the final scene buildup was a little too obvious but still cool nonetheless

So I guess the former sheriffs character is the one that saved the town in Needful Things. He is also the one that realized there was supernatural stuff happening in the Dark Half apparently. I wonder if this version actually did some of that.

"I have this uncle...he was a writer, too. And then, one winter, he just flipped his lid and tried to ax murder his wife and kid at some fancy ski resort."

Fucking awesome!
