I think I put 30-40 hours into this, but lost steam after completing act 2. I like the story, and tolerated the game play. Sometimes it was fun, other days it was a chore. Once I got the big reveal in act 2, I kinda lost my motivation. I’ll go back and finish it at some point , but you pretty much know where it’s going after act 2.

OST is great. If they release the vinyl for it, I might buy it.
Mentioned it a bit ago to someone who made the exact same post you just did. Just...go to Lumiere and finish the game, you've got like 1-2 hours left. Act 3 is super short outside of the side-stuff.

Yeah, Act 2 was the longest by far, at least for me......Act 3 is over super quick and I didn't even go back to do the side stuff yet.

yeah. its a weird game. I don't think its as bad as Bioshock infinite with it getting 10/10's and everyone insisting how deep and emotional it was, but then 10 minutes later going back, and thinking..wait... this game is actually kind of total shit.

but I think there are MASSIVE MASSIVE flaws and deadzones in this game, that are 100% being overlooked by the incredibly good acting, voice acting, and soundtrack. its a very emotional game when the cutscenes hit.

the exploration sucks. picto/lumina system is pretty solid. combat is good. but i don't like how antagonistic the parry system is. intentionally trying to fake you out, instead of flowing naturally.
I don't find the world is as well thought out as much of symbolism in the main story beats. most of it feels like pointless extra. a mishmash of Verso's childhood I guess.. but eh.. I find the logic of the Luminare people so shit and fake, that it really takes me out of it.
"lets build a ferris wheel and ride it to the paintress" take me out of the game. yes its a funny joke. but, I can't see these people as actual people fighting desperately for their lives.
Same with the insanity of having no real plan or strategy, or no system to get information back. I mean it tries to make you feel for these people and establish them as real, but it undercuts itself. it needed to flesh them out, fishing, farming, etc. real desperate plans and organization.

no good ending. the game has a major problem where I agree with Renoir at the end of act 2. so.. why the hell am I still playing?
The game should have probably split here or something. choose verso or Maelle right then, and who you follow. or perhaps have Maelle LEAVE the canvas for a while. so you think she can actually do it. Hell even as simple as having her accept the name Alicia. or make a much stronger argument that you are fighting for the survival of Lune, Sciel, and the rest. if Maelle EXPRESSLY argued against Renoir that she was doing it FOR them. "I can't let you kill these people"
that would work better. as then you get to the end, and Verso can be. maelle, you are doing it again. let me go. versus her, no I can't, I won't.

I got bored climbing the reach and just uninstalled. I didn't care.

What "information" would they have even sent back?

As far as I know, only 1 expedition would have had anything meaningful to report, and its explained what happened there. Otherwise, you're complaining fake people in a fantasy world trying off the wall shit when they were up against a literal god to them and had absolutely zero chance to accomplish anything. Also don't know why you're assuming farming/fishing/whatever is even required in a fake world with magic. Seems like some weird autism "everything has to be the way I expect it to be, even if there's no reason for it"

I dunno something about remembering my dad putting on his Skynard and Zepplin albums and rocking out to the sweet boom of his Panasonic thruster speakers.
Yeah good times. I remember my dad calling his friends to come over after he got a new album and they’d just chill in the living room listening to it.

Pfft vinyl. I'm listening to a reel to reel now. Good quality 1/4" tape at 15" per second sounds pretty good. I'm not a hipster I've just had this shit a very long time. That and my cerwin vega speakers from about 1977. I buy 1/4" reel to reel tape by the box full off ebay for next to nothing. Some commercial, some over the air off the radio (the comercials are funny) and some are small bands. You never know, like a time machine of music.

The quality is better than a lot streaming. But you have to have the brains to load and feed the tape to get it going which leaves out a large number of younger generations, just saying.

Funny and I think true for a lot of people. I think most vinyl collectors are more into it for the collectible aspect. The artwork on CDs and records are something I loved looking through while listening. These days, I like the inconvenience because I’m more likely to listen to the whole album if I put on a record or plug in a CD.

I’m going to get one of these. Mostly to support the developer, composer and musicians. And it’s something I’ll occasionally throw on and listen to.

i only listen to music from those little spindles they put into olde west pianos. the clarity is horrible. it's incovneient to move the piano around. the saloon fights drown out the music.

you may not have the refined taste to appreciate.

Shit, magician, you ain't hip with the old school if you ain't rockin wax cylinders!

In all seriousness, I had a trim Carpenter up in Charleston who was a big music guy. He bought the entire inventory of an old vinyl shop that was going out of business or something. I don't remember what he paid or the details, but he ended up framing up a building behind his home just to store all of it. I guess his man cave.

Literally thousands of records, wall to wall, just boxes everywhere. He would just go in there with a six pack of beer, I'm just randomly grabbed stuff and listen in the evenings or the weekends. He didn't even know what the hell he had, and I know at one point he was talking about trying to do an inventory, but I don't think he ever did.

There's no telling what the hell he had in there, but it was stuff from any era of music you can think of. I'm sure it's worth a ton of money for collectors and stuff but I doubt he'll ever get rid of it. He was a pretty eclectic sort of dude.

It was pretty cool though.

Sounds fantastic. I came into a collection of late 60s, 70s and early 80s rock classics, about 250 in all, and it’s been fun to go through.

I finally finished Clair Obscur last night. I did only have about 1 hour left. Great game overall.
