There are a few "silly" type moments/interactions, but nothing close to traditional "weeb" shit. There's 0 chance I would enjoy this game if it was littered with that wannabe child popper bullshit.

I finished everything (all collections/bosses/tower etc) blind expert...I think ;[

Hardest fight Simon. Bitch took me like 30 tries with my non OP damage set up so I was really tempted to cheese him. Good luck to those that find him and don't cheese. The rest of the fights weren't bad 1-5 times max so this dork had my number when I fought.

I would give this game a 10/10 in everything except QTE is still lame in turn based and even worse when it's basically mandatory. I ran with the auto offense for 99% of my game time it made no major difference in my overall kill speed (cheese build excluded). The defense novelty wore off after my hundredth fight. I wouldn't have minded lumina/picto loadouts. I also did at least half a dozen hours of backtracking for the handful of missing things I didn't catch my first run through the zones which ofc you have no way to know where so you're literally combing every pixel on the map and zones. I crashed like 50+ times. Sometimes nothing for hours and then sometimes multiple times in a row no error message, so no way to troubleshoot.

That aside this is still one of the best JRPG experiences to date imo. I felt like I was playing in the heyday of JRPGs back in the 90s/early 00s again and I hope it spawns more mature themed JRPGs with no anime protagonists.

If it's French, and doesn't have weeb/anime shit in it, then what makes it a jrpg? Just turn based combat?

Finished it today after maxing all the Party Quests. Did not do the harder dungeons yet. What a great game from start to finish. The only complaint I have is I had a lot of trouble with the Parry system, Dodges worked fine but Parry was so tight in timing I failed probably 95% of them. Yea I am very bad at games.

I might have overleveled too much farming Weapon Upgrades so the final boss was a joke, but I struggled the whole game so it felt fair to me. :p Kinda like when I played FF7 and just went KOTR and Mime on Sephiroth. Still a win!

I did the Maelle ending but damn that was kinda wierd, checked the other ending and it was sad but probably the better one in the end.

Also Expedition 60 were the giga chads, lol.

I just got Sciel after a long gaming session and felt like I needed to take notes to understand how the fuck to play her.
Fortells first, more stacks the better, use sun attacks to spend them turning her to twilight mode for her huge damage attacks. Repeat. You can tell which are which as well using the symbols in the top right of her skills. Good mix of low and high skill costs go a long way because if you have to standard attack with her you lose a ton of damage. It is the reason I don’t use her yet.
Monoco is insanely good support character, got him setup to round one shell which also applies powerful and gave him +to both of those so longer and stronger. Then he can either do insane break bar damage or some nasty single target he is just RNG with what mask comes up.

Also team are made left to right so equip first strike on whoever you want to always go first, remove all party members except the one you want on the left then add the other two back in whatever order you want. For me and first strikes it is Monoco for buffs, Verso for dmg and marks, then Maelle to take advantage of marks.

folks just call menu based combat where you fight encounters, JRPG these days.
There really isn't a genre for it in the West, because Western companies typically don't make these types of games - hence why people are calling it a JRPG.

FWIW as a uninformed JRPG person. (Last was like final fantasy x)

Despite no weebs, it just felt instantly familiar and similiar to any JRPG I ever played. I don't think I'd played any before they went deep into everything being giant eye lolita's etc. Though even back then I hated some of the emotional boo hoo exposition, just get to fighting....

Granted it being french also does well making it feel very unique/foreign vs if this was somehow set in old west.

Many JRPGs really drag on during the middle/end. I never once felt bored with this one. I did some farming for an hour or two and leveled up quite fast and could almost max the weapons. Felt really nicely balanced regarding time invested and rewards given.

I did try the floating castle but got wasted there due to me thinking I was going to steamroll it without doing mechanics.

This game has almost made me like the French. I have never been awesome and terrible at a parry system at the same time. One session I will be parry/counterattack 100 attacks in a row. The next session, I'm just a total retard and can't time anything.
