Yeah the timing of this is really odd. CFB is in a bad place when you the first thought is scandal, but it was my first thought too. It was something that needed to happen eventually and I'm glad it did, although it's a season or two sooner than I expected. Riley was going to get offers for HC jobs somewhere and the program is in much better hands than Mike. I'm hoping the sudden retirement is that he was thinking of retiring in the next few years and wanted to name Mike his successor and they told him no chance. Or maybe it's health issues. Maybe he wants to take a break and get ready for an NFL job although I think that's extremely unlikely. Just hoping its not a scandal.

Seeing a scenario being discussed that could make sense. People are saying that his retirement was planned and was coaching Riley up to be HC, but the future retirement may have been leaked to the media so OU/Stoops wanted to get infront of it before the media could. He is staying on as a "special assistant" to the AD, so a scandal would seem very unlikely.

Mere mortals cannot hope to comprehend the decision making of Big Game Bob. It all makes sense if you're him.

The Les Miles to OU meme needs to become a thing. Anywhere there is a coaching vacancy we need to see Les photoshopped in their team shirt / hat.

God damn double posting shit piece of board. I want my money back. That $90 could have gone to a ref this season or our next Heisman QB.

I have first hand information from a friend of Bob's and he said it was purely a quality of life decision. Seems like strange timing for a QOL decision, but I have no reason to doubt the source.

POKES 4BEDLAM 2017 LETS GOOOOO

Nice to see you all keeping Gundy for a long time; tons of delusional poke fans don't seem to realize that he's a top 15 coach in the country. He may be top 10 if you really pressed me to name them.

He's a weird fucker, but definitely as good as poke State will EVER get. I'm glad he's staying around.

Lost Virtue Lost Virtue im not bumping the shitty CBN thread but lol!

It's going to be an interesting appeal process. Bias or not, U of Louisville has some legitimate arguments in their appeal and it seems a lot of sportswriters agree. General consensus is they will argue the notion that there is not a gauge of morality or repugnance in the NCAA bylaws, they must factor what occurred into a monetary value (which came out to around $2000 total over those years). The NCAA outright said that the monetary value was of minor importance but rather deemed the punishment based on the grotesqueness of the acts in which they essentially turned Level III violations into Level 1 based on that.

Pitino is safe at UofL as the NCAA clearly stated that they could not find any evidence that Pitino knew, so the university would have to pay a large buyout or possible lawsuit for wrongful termination. There is some funny notations in the report that even went as far to note that a player said that if Pitino knew, "he (Pitino) would flip out." I'm not sure I believe that he didn't know, but that's my opinion backed by absolutely 0 evidence like everyone else making opinions on the matter. If Pitino got fired, I'd be sad due to the fact we'd lose a great coach (maybe not human-being) and I would understand completely.

Next few months are going to be interesting. Either way, there are going to be some large-scale precedents set from all this. And dont get me wrong, what Louisville did was absurd and they should be punished, but this may be slightly excessive.

I really want to Facebook post if anyone has the number for a good escort in Tampa, FL. But my FB is like 100% sterile and my 5 friends would totally freak out.

Foggy Foggy I wonder if OU/TX has ever been a match between two coaches in their first year.

I'd be surprised if it has every happened. This year will set the tone for a few years. I don't envy Reilly though. I think he is totally fucked. First HC job is following one of the best coaches in program history. Good luck with that.
