On the other side of a potential Congressional act, there might be a world in which college football is even better than it has ever been. NIL and the transfer portal has added an element of load balancing across the landscape. It does allow schools like Indiana, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and others to try and breach their way into the elite. It's good for the viewer when 6 schools aren't hoarding all the elite talent. Furthermore, it also helps close the gap on the incredible financial advantages the major state universities receive from their prospective state governments (or the incredible bag-men networks large universities had to pay players off the books). As much as I enjoyed watching Alabama win every other title, or Nebraska absolutely annihilate everyone in the 90s I do like the increase and added element of parity in these tourneys.

This proposed bill also doesn't do anything against transsexuals, so we still get to stick it to women by beating them in their own sports! :I'm Fine:
CFB is dead. The school fealty and rivalry aspect was the only thing that made it an appealing alternative to the pros. It is all downhill to a feeder league of less talented and/or experienced players at this point. Why do I want to watch that shit when the NFL exists? I'd rather watch the better league if they are all just paid mercenaries.

It's a fair criticism; the rivalry aspect is still there, but there is too much player movement. I believe the bill allows for one open transfer, any others would be due to head coaching changes. The current degree in which a staff needs to even run interference to retain their own players is overwhelming, hence the new reality of college programs having full-blown front offices. If nothing happens coaching burnout is going to cause coaches to burnout faster than ever - which will perpetuate the constant movement of players even more.

So you won't be watching this year? Because ever since NIL and the portal was a thing, that is EXACTLY the state of college football.

I'll watch, but every year since this bullshit started my interest has waned. I used to watch a shitload of games, but it has greatly decreased. Last season I watched the OU games, a handful of big SEC games, and most, but not all, of the playoff. I imagine that it will decrease to just OU and the bigger playoff games this year, but if the oversight continues to deteriorate I could see it going lower.

It has been tough to keep track of rosters in Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Softball over the last 3 years. The portal is fine, but unlimited transfers and immediate eligibility are just awful for the game.

This is a cope. So if Arch Manning gambled a bit and UT received an injunction, UT would not support him? Don't be willfully naive. The moral grandstanding is overplayed, especially coming from universities that have significant track records of supporting players who rape and steal etc.

If Tech supplies money, it will absolutely have a seat at the table. Once again, the moral grandstanding is short-sighted. You really believe all these schools care about morality? Give me a fucking break - I know the majority of you in here are Conservative voters, you out of all people should know how incredibly captured and morally bankrupt all of these schools are (Tech included).

The issue is all of you that tie your identity to your alma mater are acting in emotion, nothing more.

A slight redirection: Sorsby would've presumably been a clear favorite for a potential Heisman run; I think the chances on that are about .01%.

Ps. I'll let Campbell know you all think he's a fat fuck next time I run into him. I might even get him to write "Fires of Heaven/Rerolled" on his chest just to prove it.
Texas would kick Arch off the team if that happened, and I would be extremely disappointed if they didn’t. UT does not fuck around with this stuff. Really, only one school has been so ethically bankrupt as to play a player caught gambling on football, Tech.

Tech only supplies money to itself, it does not enrich others in any material respect. Kaines is right, they were likely going to be left out of the eventual super conference regardless. They don’t bring anything to the table. They are not a national draw, and Texas already delivers the entire state by itself for TV rights.

Let Campbell know that all his money can’t buy blue blood status. Tech will always be irrelevant regardless of how much money he burns. They are a more pathetic A&M.

Tech doesn't seem to understand that they are accelerating the destruction of the meaning of blue blood status. They are desperately spending money to join a club while actively chucking dynamite onto the dance floor.

GOOD. Ever since college football went to a money-first, geography doesn't matter, players are defacto contracted employees, the current version of college football needed to die. And if that means a violent death, so be it.
