I started a sub to Marvel Unlimited since the Marvel Rivals game has got me interested in reading some comics books with Jeff the Landshark in them. So far the entire Deadpool, King of Monsters series has been hilarious. I'm only up to #6, but it's been very fun!

Do I want to know what the fuck this Dan Fraga video is about? I mean, it sounds utterly abhorrent from that meme, but maybe it is just worded for maximum rustle?

for fucks sake...

how the fuck does these people get into such drama?
no idea what Ethan said about it, or whatever..

I guess this is the video Dan posted that caused a ruckus... I.. have no idea.. what version of this in his head, seemed innocuous? I mean... Im sure there is some version where just coming back from a petting zoo or something, and "Throat goat" is literally a goat bleeting. that.. does not seem to be the case at all. and, that sure doesn't look like a girl mimicing playing a clarinet.. or you know, its just exactly what it looks like.

seems like all of them just going to crash out soon. evs, zack and rippa used to be part of my daily neutron, but stopped listening to all of them a couple of years ago.

The EVS-side of Comicsgate is doing fine financially. That seems to be one of the reasons people spin out - they get frustrated that they aren't selling as many books as the more popular creators, and they decide to blame the people that have been pimping their books and having them on their shows. I've been watching this long enough to see several people I *thought* were normal do a complete heel turn (usually when they needed to deflect attention from something else). I can't speak about Zak, but EJ has been slowly losing numbers, and his live view counts are not at all indicative of his subscriber count.

I enjoy EVS, Shane Davis, Cecil, Jon Malin, Chris Graves, Anna, Camelot, etc, and usually catch most of what they put out (working from home has it's benefits!). EVS - love him or hate him - is a born entertainer.

No, this is exactly what it looks like. Some loser years ago accused EVS of sucking some dick at a convention. It was just a troll with a random comment, but one of his enemies labeled him a/the throatgoat for this. So yes, Fraga is intentionally having his minor children use a BJ joke name, with one (a boy supposedly) miming a BJ.

Why did Fraga spin out? Well according to him explaining himself on EVS's show, he's mad because he made and sent Malin a trophy belt for a contest he won, and Malin ONLY said "thanks". Also, Fraga texted him happy xmas a few years ago and Malin (who claims to have not seen it, but showed it is indeed in his text history) never replied. Also, Davis said a female creator (who's a total cunt) looked like Butterball from Hellraiser. And... that's it. EVS didn't understand how that was such a big deal, and next thing you know, that family video pops out.

You can just read everything for free on getcomics.info and read it on the iPad app “Panels” as a .cbr file.

I would recommend marvel unlimited but it’s a horrible user interface and really hard to keep track of issues. Using panels is much much much easier.

Peter's story was pretty grim. think his health went totally south around 2021, iirc. they had a couple of fundraisers, there is one still going that was being updated with his health, insurance and money problems. he had be tapping his insurance out each year and medicaid was covering the rest by that ended for some reason and his wife feared they were going to be homeless.

Fantastic writer, really enjoyed his Hulk and X-Factor stuff. But if you'd like to see "another side" of him, watch his "debate" vs McFarlane from the 90s. Not at all the behavior I'd expected of someone like David. And the shitty part (for him) - McFarlane was right in the end. David died penniless, while McFarlane's grandkids won't have to work.

Man, if only Lyrical/Shonuff were still here. He was the ultimate "if Batman has time to prepare" simp. I fought with him so many times over that bullshit. The crazy thing is, I liked Batman before that bullshit! I still like him in general, it's just whenever they pull that prep bullshit that I start to rage.

The problem is leaning into him as a superhero instead of a detective-vigilante. He has no business fighting high-powered supes.

I agree, I think Batman is at his best when he's a detective rather than a super-hero. Englehart-Rogers and O'Neil-Adams(and other artists) era being my favorite Batman. I'm old so make sense that those are my favorites, nostalgia and all. :)

Older news, but no less infuriating on just a basic fairness level. Basically, Diamond - forever the largest comic book (and related items) distributor - declared bankruptcy and "stole" all the books and merchandise under their control, from all the various companies that actually owned it. Worse, it turns out that several companies several years ago had asked Diamond to move their inventory out of Diamond's control, and Diamond just... ignored them.

Now the funny reason Diamond went bankrupt. Because they were the biggest - and essentially only - player in the comics distribution game for decades, they treated their customers (comic book publishers) horribly. As the only game in town, what choice did you have but to deal with them? So fast forward to covid. San Fran forces (some) businesses closed, including a comic book store. Owner of said store starts loudly complaining about him not being able to sell books, and it's not fair that all the other stores around the country get to stay open. So Diamond, in their brilliance, goes "We agree! We won't ship any comics to anyone!". Which is retarded in its own right, but made worse because - wait for it - there's a clause in their customers' contracts that says if Diamond ever doesn't ship books for 2 months in a row, the publishers can exit their contracts. And that's exactly what everyone did (which is why they asked for their inventory back, and Diamond just "kinda forgot" until it was time to steal and sell the inventory). I think Penguin House (lolz) took over Marvel's books? I don't recall.

To makes matters worse than just having their material stolen, Diamond has been fire-selling shit, which is completely tanking the value of creators' books. So not only do you not get paid for the books you paid to print, but now your books are getting devalued because the stolen books are being fire-sold by a company who doesn't give two shits about your company. The whole thing is just insane.

Although Sapolsky can’t get to his books, Diamond continues to sell them—and to send him the sales data, but not the payments. “They have been basically stealing our money, and on top of that, not giving us access to our own books that we paid for, that are our property,” he said. The situation has severely impacted one book that Sapolsky had high hopes for, Red Flower, which was released in February. “It was already on its way from the printer to the warehouse,” at the time of the bankruptcy, Sapolsky said. “There was nothing I could do to stop it.” Diamond sent out some payments on an irregular basis, but Sapolsky said he has received nothing since May 2.

In an interview with Rob Salkowitz at ICv2, Fantagraphics Co-Publisher Eric Reynolds estimated that Diamond is holding Fantagraphics inventory worth “in the low seven figures.” Diamond also owes Fantagraphics about $35,000 and continues to provide sales data, although they stopped making payments in mid-May. “We're not shipping them new books and they're not paying us, but they have inventory that they don't own, that they're continuing to sell and they haven't paid us for in, I guess now, six or seven weeks,” Reynolds said.

Curious if Caliane has anything to add.
