I have never EVER had any luck getting wireless gamepad controllers to work on a PC. *Any* PC. They will work briefly (like for a few minutes) and then randomly die. I have a PS4 / PS5 and they have never had an issue so I don't think it's anything in my environment.
Any tips? Not sure what to even try.

what brands?
ive had 3 8bitdo and each newer one got easier to recognize
initially i had problems, i even went and bought the 8bitdo adapter, until i got an external bt adapter, no issues
i also have a gamesir with its own adapter, no issues

I dont know if its the same problem or not. But when I stopped using my MOBO's BT and started using adapters, the connectivity massively improved. When I moved the adapter from the rear of my metal and glass case to the front of my case (facing me) that basically cleared up any connection issues.

8bitdo has the ultimate2 on sale cuz of prime day for 40bucks, it's got tmr sticks this just doesn't have switch support, add an extra 10bucks for that one actually i should test out my ultimate2 on my switch 2, supposedly it can turn on the switch2

Yeah, I think this right here is the problem. All this time I've been trying to use generic/onboard bluetooth adapters. I have a Gamesir pad and will try using it's supplied adapter.

Yeah, second this. I've had tons of issues with bluetooth. My motherboard adapter is trash and so are lots of the external ones. I think a lot of devices use trash receivers too.

Do you have the mobo's bluetooth antenna connected? I had never bothered to connect mine for a while. The first time I tried to connect a bluetooth controller, it would constantly disconnect even when it was less than 5' away from the PC. I connected the antenna and it was much better.
That said, using a wireless dongle is much better since as the others have said, most mobo bluetooth is trash.

For one PC, I had to buy a USB bluetooth dongle which I plugged into the front. Yeah the other one is on the motherboard and I definitely did not use an antenna. In fact I don't even recall it coming with one. Perhaps I missed it.
Anyway, using the provided Gamesir dongle everything worked fine this evening. Thanks, guys.

yea my gamesir and dongle was low lat enough to keep up w/ expedition33, and they kinda make it nice where they give you dock that has a dongle passthru so you don't take up so many usba

Getting this pop-up every couple minutes, always with a different antivirus logo on it. Clicking off the window causes a webpage to open that goes to a Not Found, so it's more annoying than anything else.
AVG Antivirus says I've got nothing going on (only have the free trial of that). Haven't had a virus in ages. This probably has to do with me watching pro wrestling shows on dodgy websites a few times the past month while trying to catch up on them.
Why is AVG saying I'm in the clear when I clearly have something on my system triggering all these popups? And any good virus scan suggestions?
My debit card info got jacked a couple weeks ago and this might also have something to do with it.
Turned off all notifications from that website so I'll probably stop getting these popups, doesn't mean I don't still have whatever malware is causing it though.

I just dealt with this for an older couple. It's a notification from Edge from a bad website to try to con you in to clicking it and letting them remote into your computer to "fix" it. Blocking the offending website from sending you notifications in Edge is all you need to do.

Well that sucks, appears my little Minisforum NAB9 died overnight. Won't boot. Was a refurb so I'm probably 4 months out of warranty... bet it's cheaper to just buy another barebones and move the storage / RAM over than to have them repair it, but we'll see what they say.
Tried an appropriately sized universal charger to rule out the power brick, but it goes into a failsafe mode when I connect it to the NAB9, so seems like a problem w/ the unit. They had a capacitor issue on this model, but my s/n isn't in the range of affected units... let's see what support comes back with I guess.

Brother I am not trying to be mean. You should really take some free basic security awareness training, so you stop getting your credit cards jacked by simple mistakes. For instance don't go clicking on pop ups like that, if you are on a dodgy streaming site at least use a pop-up blocker etc.
Again, not being mean I keep end users computers so locked down they can't do things like this because it is super common. At the same time, I feel if you have a computer you use and are grown enough to put credit card information in it, you should take a 30 minute course or two to know what not to do.

I've never used a 2-screen setup before, but now I have a laptop as the primary and a desk mounted LCD as the second display.
I set it up and extended the screens so you can move between them with a single mouse, but the screen sizes don't match up. Even though they have the same resolution, the PC just assumes they are the same size. As a result, the mouse doesn't move where I suppose it will move when going between mounted screens. I adjusted how the computer should assume they are standing, but the larger ones still doesn't match up to the taller one.
It's there a way to fix this?

w/ laptops it depends, of course name your laptop, are you using a dock or not? hdmi? sometimes you might be limited, you can also try going from usbc to displayport (or minidv for the doc)
of course first free things to try is update drivers and chipsets and d/l monitor drivers
