isometric quest-grinder. Yawn. How have we gone this many years without a new idea in the genre?

Isometric, fog of war, open world PvP with a chance of item drop...but because it has quests it’s wow?

Looks like a LoL and Wildstar lovechild. The MOBA formula works fairly well in MMO's (Albion) so hopefully they do it well. Dunno could be cool.

Confirmed By The Developers

  • If a stronger player decides to gang and kill a weaker player, the stronger one literally will gain nothing from that. Moreover, the punishment for doing so will be severe. At the same time we also have mechanics that keeps weaker players from bothering stronger ones or being punished in case of doing so.
  • You can get fossils from mining, different gems including precious ones, precious metal nuggets, salts and various substances.
  • Fog of war will limit your visibility. It's not just the fog which hides some uninvestigated places. Highgrounds and obstacles will also limit your visibility. FoW is shared between party members. You will able to see what is happening around your party members.
  • Fishing will be available in the game
  • Combat and movement speed will be increased
  • Gamepad support is being considered for the future
  • Max party size is 4
  • Raids will be 12-20man (NOT 100% CONFIRMED)
  • Camera will be unlockable
  • The size of the inventory can be expanded, and there will be bags for different types of resources
  • There will be professions for crafting potions and other consumables
  • Artifacts will have both active and passive abilities
  • Rarity will follow the traditional system: Common < Uncommon < Rare < Epic < Legendary
  • There will be no perma-death realms available
  • The game will have lore content
  • A summoner class is being considered
  • Appearance customization includes skin color, hair and face
  • Guild wars will be a thing
  • Hitman and sheriff will be available professions
  • Every build will be effective in certain scenarios
  • Only PKs will lose any significant items
  • 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 arenas have also been confirmed (thanks for Foren on discord and Noxx for telling me this)
  • There will be opportunities to make attacks out of FoW not so unexpected (thanks for Foren on discord for telling me this)
  • There will be randomly generated dungeons (thanks for Foren again)
  • The looter talent branch is intended for players who do lots of gathering and crafting activities, and also has a talent that gives +10% gold to everyone on the player's party
  • The game will have multiple cultures inspired by stuff like samurai, vikings and knights. The Qaddari culture will be cyberpunk samurai (i'm not sure about this part but i'll leave it here anyway). Other confirmed cultures are Elaniens, Yorners and Faidens (thanks for Noxx for telling me this and Stevie for finding it)
  • Auction houses and player trading has been confirmed (credits to Foren)
  • Most items will be soulbound (credits to Foren)
  • There are no plans for servers with different PvP rules
  • Karma takes into consideration who attacked first, as well as level
  • There is a gear score system
  • The heroes come from different worlds
  • Each hero will have its own set of values and principles, but no defined personality
  • The game will have wards to help players be on guard
  • A lot of information about the karma system just got confirmed:
  • Upon killing a player, you will accumulate karma. After reaching a certain threshold, you will become a Criminal
  • Killing a Criminal will give no karma points
  • Upon dying, a Criminal will drop one of his weapons or artifacts
  • Your relationships to other players will be shown as red, yellow, white or green
  • Red players are enemies. Killing them won't give any karma points
  • Yellow players are neutral. You won't be able to attack them unless you turn on PvP, and your AoE abilities will have no effect on them. Killing a yellow player gives you karma points
  • White players are neutral players 3 or more levels below you. Killing white players will give you lots of karma and immediately make you a Criminal.
  • Green players are party/raid members
  • Karma points will be given based on the level difference between the attacker and the attacked player. It takes killing about 100 players of your level to become a criminal
  • Only the aggressor will receive karma for kills. You will not receive any karma from killing someone in defense

Lore information revealed in the new article:

  • The game's planet is called Kwalat, and it takes place after a cataclym that had Kwalat as its center
  • Elanien is confirmed to be a culture closely related to nature
  • Faiden is a desert culture that highly values honor and valor
  • Yorners is a culture that uses technology based on steam and highly values money
  • The Quaddari is a dystopic cyberpunk culture

The game evolves in a place called Kwalat, which is just a small part of a huge universe. Kwalat once was the epicenter of a huge cataclysm that changed all of creation. The aftermath can still be noticed in these wastelands: one can find anomalistic zones, forgotten ruins, and remains of devices that were once created by unthinkable technology. Once this place was home to an ancient cutting-edge race of warriors – conquerors of the universe. Its mightiness was godlike – but, nevertheless, it tumbled and Kwalat was abandoned. What moved its masters? What ruined them? And why now, after ages, are inhabitants of other worlds starting to appear on this deserted land? In order to find the answers, they will have to enter into some of the farthest corners of Kwalat and gather bit by bit the truth of what happened a long time ago. But first… first they need to survive.

  • The Elanien Kingdom, that was born in the heart of a harsh forest, considers that they must be mutually helpful and close to nature in order to survive, since it is in nature that the Elaniens are able to find incredible powers for photic weaponry.
  • The clans of Faidens roam among the waterless deserts on mechanical devices and are in never-ending war with the bloodthirsty bigots, and don’t back down from principles of honor and valor.
  • The Yorners reshape Kwalat with their powers of steam and money: they transform lifeless glacier into an engineering miracle of astounding scale.
  • The Quaddari built on swamps a community of limitless opportunities. But corruption, crime, and intrigues abound underneath their slogans of absolute freedom. Most of the population lives in dire poverty and whatever its inhabitants have in savings is only spent on fashionable implants. The dirty slums glow in neon billboards.

The second vid is a bit too try hard, but it doesn't strike me as pandering or insincere. Hopefully the passion translates into a quality game. I'll definitely at least give it a try.

The producer already had to run damage control with a video defending basic character movement, which is probably the most foundational element of any game.

This turd won't circle the bowl even once before it's flushed.

Yeah slow movement speed is a killer for a mmo these days. I remember the beginning days of SWTOR and its abysmal run speed and how everyone hated the shit out of it. There are other ways to slow down progression other than making running at a snail pace. Fuck that shit.

BTW didnt watch Im at work and no youtube.

This is still the only potentially interesting MMORPG on the horizon for me. Not too much new information though, unfortunately.
