FOR YEARS. I dont know if each of these impacts my credit rating, or wtf it is exactly, but yeah . . .

Where are you getting these alerts from? And if you're subscribed to some service that sends daily, or even weekly alerts/reports how do you not know if it's impacting the score/report? This seems really... strange.

I would be suspicious of wherever these alerts are coming from. Seems like a scam to try to get you to pay them to try to remove the negative remarks or even just straight up steal your identity.

That's a pretty common collections tactic. They report anything and everything they can including your failure to pay the fees they tack on to the collections.

When he was talking about his report getting "constantly" pinged I figured it was like once a quarter, didn't think it was every 3 days. That's absurd.

If you have multiple derogs from the same debt id call your local sleazy lawyer, some of the consumer protection stuff if surprisingly consumer friendly and they can get big fines.

Yeah, for 3.5 years, for $223 dollars.

I'll start fucking with it in earnest on Tuesday.

Personal opinion is to get it taken care of. Even if they don't delete it you don't want some random outstanding charge when you need to apply for a line of credit on something. I mean you're likely halfway to it being deleted anyways (7 in MA anyways). I prefer being proactive with my credit report. I had that $200 Sprint collections bill.show up when I was signing for my mortgage.

I just dealt/dealing with this currently. My word of advice is get every thing in writing, over the phone is pointless.

A while back I wanted to get my credit right and had a 2 grand debt to a CC, I called them up to see what they were willing to do. Got told it was now 4 grand and I laughed and told them to call back when they wanted to be reasonable, got served and then called back up and said, let's go to court or I'll just pay the 2g like originally owed, got set up on a payment plan and recently paid that off only to now have them tack on the other 2 grand in "interest" that was never discussed so I've stopped paying and they are trying to serve me again.

I'd be highly skeptical of this agency and cover your ass on everything.

Get your $125 (or more) for the Equifax leak. If you have evidence and can quantify hours lost resolving stolen identity issues, you could be entitled to a lot more. Everyone should do this just so they pay out as much as possible. Fuck them. They're getting off easy.

You will probably get less than 125. If everyone affected submitted we'd get like 25 cents each or something stupid.

$125 is the minimum payment required by Equifax to pay as mandated by the court order resulting from the class action lawsuit.

No, it's the max of the pool of people that can't prove they were affected with receipts. There's only $31 million set aside. Which means if more than 248,000 people apply for the cash, the amount you get will be diminished.

On the topic, what finance apps/service does everyone use?

Obviously robinhood/fidelity/ etc depending if/where you invest

I use Mint to track all my accounts. In getting pretty OCD about it and checking at least once a day.

Credit Karma for monitoring and free credit report. It was pretty quick to alert me when I signed up for a new credit card and does a good job of showing what is affecting my credit score.

I use Credit Karma and my Capital One card comes with free monitoring as well that I look at anytime I log into their site to see my statement.

We had a payroll Mgr leave on not the best terms so to be safe I enrolled with USAA credit protection (like $12/month) for a few months. After a while I decided it was worth it to keep as I like all the features.

I use Fidelity app for my accounts and Merrill Edge app for my mom's accounts. Merrill (the company and the app) are both shit, but she refuses all my begging to move her stuff to Fidelity.

What features does it give that makes it worth taking/keeping?
