I think the controller setup is going to be a bit much, but as for KB/M? I think its going to be a lot like BDO, but I hope it allows us to remap. In Lukes video while showing some of the skill tree, it shows the KB/M keys for various skills: Focus Shot = Aim (whatever that key is, didn't show), then press T to initiate Focus Mode, then press LMB to fire (similar to Ranger in BDO); after that was a Dodge Roll, which used E (which would be D for me if we can remap); and using F after Force Palm (which is probably F by default), a "flow" skill like in BDO where you press the same button after the initial skill fires.

Edit: Yea, controller is going to be a learning experience, nothing as simple and effective like the Stellar Blade setup. That Focus Shot skill I mentioned for KB/M is this:
L2 to Aim
Press down L3 + R3 to enter Focus (I think once in Focus, you can let of L3+R3)
Press R1 to fire.

I think progress carries over from the MH3 stories demo too.

Yeah looks good, but basically a shell of what could have been a killer immerse world. Static Npc’s in 2026 is ridiculous.
What do you mean by "static npc's"? In the Luke video, every single npc was doing its own thing and would react to you (if needed).

I didn't watch all these videos as they are over an hour long in some of them - I assume when Springbok Springbok said Static NPC's well the definition of that are NPC's standing there doing nothing.

Meaning it’s mmo like, npcs stay stationary in cities, kids out at night etc. world doesn’t have reactive npcs.

It does though? At least what I've seen in the 3 videos I've watched so far? Luke, Skill Up and Fighting Cowboy. All showed active / reactive npcs everywhere. I understand what you're describing, and you can see that in BDO, but even in BDO you have npc's moving around everywhere along with the standard never moving ones. I just haven't seen that in these videos yet.

Seems like bdo plus botw plus dd2 the game. I hated botw tbh, but seems like there are some elements of that here. Will wait on full reviews as the game visually looks incredibly well done.

Here is a vid that shows the KB/M setup, and some of the key combos are a big nope, like Tab+F, lol.

Edit: For KB/M all the key functions are remappable. I don't know if it will allow combos like Shift+1, or 1, 2, 3, etc. If it does, I'd certainly be placing Tab+F as Shift+F or a number key, haha.

I saw an addon section in that settings section(2:00 mark). That might make me try it later. Games with robust addon support can add quite a bit extra, QoL and such that makes them game miles better then it would be normally.

Those inputs dont look too horrid, compared to some BDO had. That tab + F being the worst. Most looks relatively easy with a lot of button + mouse input or single input button with all of them being around wsad.

Def not day 1, maybe give it a few weeks. See more actual reviews and addons.

That looks like something he rebound? The inputs seem weird considering what they do in BDO using Shift and Space modifiers instead. That or every single unique skill in the game has a unique key combination and since they said there would be a lot of skills you could learn, they had to get crazy with tab and capslock and whatever.

I think ultimately as long as you can rebind(which apparently controller is getting fucked on, although if you play on Steam you can just rebind via Steam anyway) it shouldn't be an issue. You won't be using every single skill all the time, some are just going to be dogwater. In BDO there's a ton of skills you never use, and while there is a learning curve to each class to learn the basic rotation, I assume in this it'll be a lot less rotation based anyway since the goal won't be full aoe efficiency. You'll just want to put your strongest attacks in easy to reach buttons, and then learn one good combo for when enemies get staggered/downed kind of thing.

It is curious they didn't do a double control scheme though with like the full control one they have now and a simplified one/two button chain system that just plays the game for you.

It looks like many of the skills will be like "Flows" from BDO where you use the previous key combo again. Here is a vid going over every node in Kliff's skill tree. The other two playable characters have their own skill trees, though not as large.

I've always played games using the directional keys with the the numpad and delete/insert rows for my hotkeys. I have to re-map every single game I play, but I had to do some voodoo to make BDO playable because of the same kind of crazy default mapping it looks like Crimson Desert is going to have.

All this control talk has me scared. I like shooters, I have like 5 equipment keys, 3 movement and an interact.

I've always hated games that are like 30 moves, all of which are like do low low high low parry high for super omega attack. Great pull some of them off slowly in training or something but then if the games at all difficult and heat of the moment i'm usually following back to a few simple moves.

The flow though sounds like cant be as simple as cheating with one of those crazy mice with 15 sidebuttons.

The fact that the game only has one difficulty setting is a bit of a red flag for me. Why not allow players to just play the game the way they want to play it. Cyberpunk 2077 had 4 settings that ranged from Baby on Board to Oh FUCK. Give players the ability to set the difficulty and enjoy the game.

This will not be a day one for me despite having fantastic graphics. I will wait for mods and such.

Yeah I do wonder how much, if any, mod support will be in this game. A controller remappable key mod is first on my list, plus fan generated content etc is what makes otherwise mediocre Bethesda titles into all time great games.

Meh. Tons of games have one setting and they’re great. All the From games for example.

I’m fine with difficulty settings existing but it’s definitely not a red flag.

Difficulty will be fine since you can gear up to smash stuff. The real difficulty will be adjusting to the control scheme and finding a way to fight that you feel comfortable with. I am 99% sure there is enough to find in the the starter area that will allow you smoke every boss.

I like how much complaining is going on in this thread about BDO's combat, which is basically the best part of the game (maybe 2nd after the life skills which they nailed). The way combat can flow so easily from one skill to the next, and these fucking geezers complaining.

I didn't think of it, but people were talking about story, and I'd say that worries me. When Land of Mourning Light came out, I fucking hated it. That running all over the place for the story was brutal and boring and just awful.

The combat control scheme in BDO is a bit more refined, imo. I'd prefer using a controller in this game, but it looks kinda wonky. I did try BDO. on PS5 and it's setup wasn't that great. There is an image of the KB/M setup for CD posted in its subreddit, and it should be ok as long as everything can remapped.
