This dude makes it sound like the best thing since Elden Ring but bosses/puzzles are too hard so don't buy it

So it's probably fucking amazing

Some people aren't so poor that they' have to sit around and not do something they want to do for months in order to save $20.
Is the experience the same if you play it RIGHT NOW vs. in 6-12 months when it has been patched, updated, etc. and is $30-40 cheaper?

That's what I figured, wealthy fatty.

I've been told it runs and looks great on PC and PS5 Pro. I take that as the others not so much. Now for gameplay, they said it was so fucking huge and had tons of shit to do. You just get lost and find fun shit all over.

If you enjoy exploring and finding shit that alone makes it worth it IMO. Also, the combat isn't ass. It's pretty good.

If exploration is fun and a key high point of the game, I might give it a shot. Why do the bushes and trees always look like it’s a hurricane though? That’s got to be distracting with them blowing all directions like crazy all the time.

Basically what I assumed, some great exploration hampered by some shit puzzles, wonky over complicated controls and huge seemingly random difficulty spikes. Holding out for some fixes and updates

Imagine being so poor that $30-$40 matters. If you like having to wait for a year because you made shit life choices, then have fun being a year behind the rest of the world

That reminds me of the original Xenogears that had a 20+ minute unskippable cutscene before a major boss fight. Took me like 10 tries on that shit and I would just let it run and walk away until the fight started. Such nostalgia!

Dammit, now I have disc 2 PTSD resurfacing

I'm one of them, Tainted Grail was awesome!
Tainted Grail one of my favorite games; Fuck IGN's 6.

I bought this already because I had a busy few weeks and have a few people I know who are going in at launch. I should have/could have waited, it turns out; I thought I was going to have a week off but timing got screwed up; I was actually off and busy with kids a week earlier than expected. A little concerned about the controls but we'll see. It wouldn't be the first 70 dollar game I bought and shelved but if the moment to moment gameplay is fun and you get 80-100 hours out of it, it doesn't force you into the overly hard boss fights and lets you level, etc. so be it.

I'm going to check here tomorrow and see what peeps that are playing it think and make my own decision. I'm loving SH2 Remake but it's a short game and I'd love something with some depth. Death Stranding 2 is also launching tomorrow but it seemed to fall under the radar on PS5 which seems odd to me.

But you know your e-peen will be impacted by this right? When you finally get around to it and you comment here that you played it, had some difficulty with some bosses, but with doing X, Y, Z you managed them, you'll be met not by praise for completing a challenging encounter with smart skill use, but with "Pfft, did that pre-nerf where HP pool was bigger, skill X, Y was bugged and Z feature didn't even work!!"

Joking aside, the difficulty mentions in the reviews makes me want it more, not less. One worry I had was that it was huge and rewarded exploration (that was mentioned in previews), but I worried that like most open world games it would become a "press X to win" in later stages. If they have not just one difficulty spike like Elden Ring (Winter area), but several. That's great.

However, if the difficulty spikes are just tied to larger HP enemies with a combination of bad controls which makes effective skill use impossible at the same time as you struggle with camera/lock on, that's not good. But from the reviews, while that is an issue, it doesn't seem like it is the only thing that makes it hard.

What nearly all the reviews mention is that it is very focused on exploration, and actually rewards it. That puts it very close to "take my money" from me.
