This game is confusing me! First people hate it, then love it, then 3 million people buy it and they fix a lot of stuff really fast. But some people hate it still.

I kinda want to try it for myself, got a dry spell between PoE leagues anyway. Worth the box price?
Yes. Starts a bit slow, can feel a bit janky, but if you interact with all of what the game offers, its very good.

I haven't bought the game yet, but been reading the thread and was surprised no one shared this.

Y'know, for people looking for realism...

...keeping in mind someone had to go out of their way to program this.

Maybe ill have to try this. BDO had a crazy control scheme to get used to at first, so many buttons and combos of buttons when fighting. Curious anyone play that and try this? They comparable control wise, or is it worse? I still play BDO on occasion, still a fun game and could always look amazing if you turned everything up.

I had hoped for just BDO single player, but it sounds like a completely different control scheme. But then, as said, I haven't played yet.

They stole a lot of animations from BDO classes and even use the whole AP/DP scheme. But other than that, it plays quite a bit differently.

Makes sense as it was going to be BDO 2 basically before they went to this single player idea. An MMO might of brought more money, though maybe they thought why compete with ourself and just make a standalone game that people will play at the same time. One single player game and one persistent online game. The former might get people to try the latter and vice versa, especially if you give rewards for the other in each.

Pretty sure I covered this is a previous post. Yes, I'm playing both (BDO afk fishing --while CD is running!-- and a daily hour grind to burn agris) The combat is similar. W+LMB does a move, LMB+RMB does another move, blah blah. You aren't locked to face forward in CD so you don't have the S+button moves, CD is alot more limited in that respect. However, once you add back in the martial arts/wrestling moves it can become more intense.

Interesting, so close enough that it probably wouldnt bother me. Just have to learn all the key combos like when you try a new class. Thanks.

This game is 10x better than bdo imo. Feels similar but once you start unlocking sockets and stuff you feel like a god mowing down dozens of mobs in seconds. Boss fights actually become interesting later too, not to a From level, but interesting mechanics. Most of the early stuff feels very different to the shit I’m fighting now at 60 hours in. It does start very slow though. Will get my hot air balloon tomorrow (rofl), killed the oongka mandatory boss, got my ranch and farm running and spent evening manipulating trade goods market. This will easily be my goty

So last night I got to the place up in the sky (forget name already) and saved/went to bed.

This morning start game I'm on the ground where you get the heavy lifting spell. So where did the being in the sky go? Bugged maybe? I loaded a way earlier save and did it again.

Still getting my head around/fighting the wonky controls but this has GOTY all over it. This is my first $70 full price game, was worried I'd be bummed about it but fuck that this game is awesome! I will say I'm having to google how to do some of the stuff they are trying to show me how to do (that gear you had to climb and hit up in the air) being a big one.

It's so wild they were able to make all this interaction in this engine and make it look so damn good.

Also question, I have the level up artifact things, do I sit on them for later or level up stuff now and if so what do I level up first?

You know what’s awesome about having the engine have such amazing draw distance Is that you don’t need to clutter the map with ”?” POIs because just look at the game world and you can see the POI in the distance.

The save function moves your character to a "safe" location. This makes it a little harder to save scum some things.

Use them, there's plenty more where they come from. At least 3 into stamina and health, getting the Axiom Pulse ability from the green tree to mine from a distance is real handy. Boosting or unlocking at least the first nodes in a few abilities is good. I maxed out Armed Combat early.

You also use Artifacts for upgrading armour/weapons at higher levels. Clearing out the larger bandit camps is always a good source of more Artifacts.

Maybe hold onto a few at a time in case you need something for a quest, but spending is the best bet.

Also, I had a thought yesterday - In spite of some pop in (my biggest graphical complaint) and some muddy textures - this is truly open world. Wanna go into a house? No cutscene walk right in. Wanna go do a tower puzzle? Run up to the tower and do it. Even if you hated the gameplay (lol what a retard), the technical display here is absolutely nuts. There are like 5 things this game is doing that Western developers would deem impossible. Not sure what Voodoo they're using but man, what a wild experience. I have to head to Cushing shortly... otherwise I'd be home poopsocking my base and leveling up Damiane.
