If anyone is thinking of going the unarmed combat route, I suggest getting these Gloves:

Kinetic Burst procs an energy ball that shoots forward, while the other (doesn't show a name) just makes your dmg go UP. The gloves themselves are for Damaine. I haven't extracted them yet to see if the Gears work on with 1h weapons, too busy trying to unlock the Legendary Creatures. You can find them at:

Whats a good chapter to push the MSQ to? I see you unlock lots of new skills/mechanics in the MSQ so figured going off the rails too early will be foolish.

Just a few quests into Chapter 2 right now.

I have stopped at entering Scholastone in Chapter 3. At this point the camp is ready to go and you can start expanding it independent of the story. Also it seems a lot of the faction quests (if not all) have/are opening up for Hernand. I finished Alfonso and Roberts and am doing the Great Thief quest line for Serkis at the moment. Knocked out most of the merchant requests (I think I have 2 left). Also, it pays to max out reputation with some of the merchants. They like different things as gifts, which I guess you can just google. They have additional merchandise at 100 Rep (example, Rhett the guy outside the Smith will sell a contract allowing his stuff to be bought in your camp when you consume the contract). Also, my horse is a pimp.

Chapter four opens up the base building and the second witch which also opens up ruins and some cool items and stuff. I finished chapter 5 now and am currently on 6 but have 70 hours in the first area alone. I would say take your time anyway and open it up when you are ready. I still have a shit tom to do yet in Hernand too. I have a couple quest lines at 6/6 but still 50% are about half complete. Don’t have fear of missing out on anything by just exploring and having a blast getting lost in the world.

I would go to Chapter 5, chill for awhile and explore / work on Witch stuff and finishing as many of the House quest chains in Hernand as you can. Then push to Chapter 9. Then chill for awhile to explore / gear up.

Do all the Abyss islands that unlock after you go up Spire of Stars. Go find Pororin Village ( the Shai town) to start it's Research, do the same for Scholastone.

I am in Chapter 3 now. 13 hours in, keep getting distracted by doing other quests. But, I guess I should follow advice and follow MSQ to unlock things. I keep finding places where I'm obviously supposed to do stuff, but can't. Some places even have a ??? voice telling me to go back.

13 hours, have really only scratched the surface of the first tiny area doing mostly quests from the first town. Glad I bought the game again. Even if controls are definitely a bit janky (lost count of how many times I've jumped instead of picking something up), the sense of exploration in this once you get going is just amazing.

Yea, the ??? will be explained after Ch5, you'll begin your journey to meet the Waifu's of Crimson Desert. ;p

Think I'm in chap 2, I am like an overexcited squirrel, I get excited any any new shiny and wander off the path. I am having an absolute blast though!

Chapter 3? Hell ive done like 5 little quests and keep getting distracted by new ??? animals to skin, ore, boxes with basic trash every 15 feet.

Tamed myself the legendary black horse today, man do I suck at that mini game. Took me like 15 tries. It has some pretty nice stats at level 1.

Did some abyss stuff, fuck that platforming that starts you at the beginning if you fall.

I seriously dont get all the hate that game journalists have for this game. It seriously cant be the lack of DEI shit for every single journalist.

The interview with the devs was kind of disappointing though. Lot of good news and they have new content already on the way (DLC? Expansion? Idk) but I really wanted mod capability and limited multiplayer. Both of which got shot down. Games good without them, but LAWD.. Itd be an incredible addition to the game.

I threw caution to the wind and went to NexusMods. I added one that lets you up the level of stackable items to 999. Sure it's cheating I guess but it's a 1 player game and I get tired of running to town to sell.

Controller was a no go, but having trouble with natures grasp on keyboard F + left click, opened a wall when I learned skill after many attempts, just seems to want to do light slash most of the time. At haunted hills and there's like adial I need to push in or spin.

Edit guess its a quest, so I can't do 2nd part to learn focus from ghost inside.

Did you do the Upper area part 1st? I made that same mistake then wondered why I saw that same place seemingly out of nowhere.

I killed the crow, so now on my main weapon heavy attack, I have crows flying out and extra claw attack from the legendary wolf I killed a day or two ago, so I’m doing pretty good damage just spamming heavy attack which has siphon stamina too so I don’t run out of stamina. Simple gameplay for an old man like me. :)

Game just updated to 1.01.00 on PC just now. Around 2gb update. No idea what was changed/fixed. It's roughly 10PM PDT Saturday in USA.

EDIT: Huh soon as I logged in I received (2) Refinement Tokens. New to me anyhow.

EDIT 2:

The Crimson Desert 1.01.00 update was released on March 28, 2026, introducing five new summonable mounts (White Bear, Silver Fang, Snowwhite Deer, Rock Tusk Warthog, and Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex) that can be used in towns.

Major content and gameplay additions include a Refinement Coin for tempering equipment to Stage 4 without materials, a "Make Now" function for instant crafting, and a "Store all selected items" feature for inventory management. The update also overhauled movement controls, allowing continuous sprinting without holding the button, improved Flight mechanics, and reduced stamina consumption for various actions.

Other significant changes involve:

  • Quest & UI Improvements: Fixed progression blockers in early quests, added weak point indicators, and expanded the Notifications menu to store 2,000 entries.
  • Quality of Life: Improved locked door interactions, increased well water yield to 5 units, and reduced Abyss pickpocket escape chances.
  • Performance: Reduced loading times for fast travel and revival, with a PC download size of approximately 2.9 GB.
