Remember when I said I threw caution to the wind and modded the game, yeah don't do that. LOL I spent all last night putting my broken shit back together.

Also PSA: If you are reading this thread and wondering: Yes the controls take time to learn, yes they are annoying. Yes this game is worth learning them though. This game ROCKS!

30 mins later you'd find out you both wondered off 2 miles from each other.

This game is just insane. Probably GOTY and I haven't even scratched the surface. I find myself just constantly exploring and taking in the scenery. I haven't even come close to leaving Hernand.

Holy cow, I just got the camp. Then went to see the witch. Have not set it the camp up at all and now that video is showing 1000000X more things to do. I'll be done with this game when I'm 80. How the hell did they pack all this in 1 game .

This game also thrives on just exploring stuff you see off in the distance. I haven't had NEARLY enough time to really play, so I'm only in chapter 3 still, but have done a lot of side stuff. I saw an interesting shipwreck wayyyy off in the distance, flew over to it and was rewarded with a little story and an awesome yet ridiculous fish helm with a special attack lol.

I killed the crow, so now on my main weapon heavy attack, I have crows flying out and extra claw attack from the legendary wolf I killed a day or two ago, so I’m doing pretty good damage just spamming heavy attack which has siphon stamina too so I don’t run out of stamina. Simple gameplay for an old man like me. :)

Quoting myself as I added a 3rd effect on my heavy attack from a sword found a giant skeleton. I actually used a video to get that sword, was getting frustrated with Astrumba Sword boss, with the 3rd effect I managed, still basically used Pills(3) and tons of food to just outlast him. Difficulty compared to other bosses till that point is totally out of wack.

I need to put more time in crafting Abyss stuff, I realize that's where I was possibly under geared.

I try to avoid using guide because the exploration is so much fun, but I was so pissed of at this boss. Took me like 1.5 hours to kill him where I did others in 1-3 tries at most.

I finished Chapter 5, it looks like Chapter 6 sends me to the next zone. So putting MSQ on hold to finish all the stuff I have to do in the first zone which is still a lot.

Such an awesome game.

Question about abilities. You can learn some abilities, often while fighting bosses. I've learned like 5ish abilities that way fairly automatically while fighting bosses. I heard that if you refund your ability tree, the ones you learned from observing are not refunded and are permanent.

However, if you purchase an ability that can be learned, then encounter the event/enemy that can learn you the skill, do you still learn it? So if you refund your abilities, they still stay learned. Or are you then forced to use points to learn that ability again? Effectively screwing you out of that point since you've already done the boss that does it?

Or have to get it later, at which point you'll have to remember to respec again before the fight if you've taken it again. And the only way to know that would be to look up things beforehand instead of just playing encountering things normally.

I've not used any ability point on a skill that says I can learn it by observation because of that worry. But maybe I don't have to worry about it?

You can learn abilities that you've invested points in, and if you respec you essentially end up with an extra point.

Found the recipe for Gold Bars while exploring Spire of Insight. Not that difficult to make, but it seems to require having the Ice imbue unlocked. I also did some Beggars Alliance quests, and that finally unlocked the House Grace quest line..., so not done with Hernand yet (again).

I'm never going to leave Hernand, 78 hours in and I'm still there doing quests, and looking at the map I still have some exploring to do. It never ends, it's an endless pool of content. And now that I'm back to work after a week off, it's going to take even longer.

Being a completionist is going to be such a curse in this game. :)
