Weird how you're at 120 hours and about to finish and some people are talking about 80 hours still in the starting area.
That’s not really that weird. Some people beat Witcher 3 in 40 hours some beat it in 160. All depends how completionist you’re playing. CD has an immense amount of shit that isn’t necessary but some are doing it all.

Only got 19h here and spent most of it hunting the cool looking armor. Then only done MSQ quests up to chapter 5 where I am now.

I think I will do some quests in the area before I move on and work on the camp. Anythig worthwile from sidequests or just "fleshing out" the area?

Are all armors and weapons basically the same and you just plug in abyss cores?

I've collected quite a few sets at this point, but aside from the odd piece that has +whatever innate on the armor they are all standard socket amounts? No +5 sockets to chest or anything?

Basically what I'm asking is if I find something fashion wise am I good to just pump it up and not give a crap other than to catch em all?

I'm at +5 refinement to all weapons/armor/accessories at this point and haven't finished chap 4 yet so I'm a little OP.

End game really farming cores to take attack cores to plus 10. Best build I’ve seen was gs with all atk plus 10. Just deleted end game boss in like one combo

Yes, from what I've seen all the armor types are the same within their types, with few exceptions. All the Plate Chest pieces will top out at 41 Defense, All Leather Chest pieces at 32 Def, etc. The Kairos Gloves and Boots are both 1 tier lower than the standard for Def, while the Scorched Plate Gloves are 1 tier higher.

For weapons and accessories you'll see that there are two types; "pure" and "hybrid". The pure stuff will have 1 stat while the hybrids will have 2-3; the Tigerfang Ring has only Attack and will top out at 7, while a Tarnished Ring has Attack & Atk Speed, topping out at 3 & 3, and all Rings give Stamina Regen.

26,4 hours in. Chapter 4, doing quest after quest for the camp. Still only explored a small part it feels of the first zone. Only have 2 achievements. Big game is big.

Hmm maybe one more patch cycle and ill try this out. Seems overall good word. Will have to look to see how the mods are. Games like these I usually mod out inventory management tediousness(weight and space), as its a huge pet peeve of mine and I despise dealing with it.

Did the reed devil mission in the dark. That sucked. Could not see who was kicking my ass. Started just running when it became apparent killing the mobs wasn't worth the effort.

Also avoid fighting the crimson terror asshole thing in the dark. That sucked pretty bad, I can't imagine even trying reed devil in the dark.

I did this fight just before they nerfed it in a patch. After the 2nd random encounter with the mobs+boss, and seeing the 'track this boss' line kept going way up the mountain, I did the same thing. My mini-map looked like it had 1000 red dots all swarming behind me. It was a Tad excessive, wonder what they changed in the patch for it?

Yeah, same here. Doesn't help that I bought two 30-40 hour games just before this came out (Planet Crafter and Necesse). Will probably finish those before I touch this one. It also doesn't help that it seems like Pearl Abyss is doing massive qol patches every time, which makes me just want to wait longer.

I was enjoying this from the jump, even on og patch... The two big patches though have improved it a ton. Really interested to see if these guys will cook up a DLC or something, as the story leaves you in a mild cliffhanger (hey look at this new land adventurer, it awaits you! - proceeds to be inaccesable).

You can just switch to them and play as them, but there’s a bunch of stuff they can’t actually do and your skill points are a shared pool so people just play as the main dude. It sounds like they had them in as part of the BDO2 classes plan but they switched to single player and just left them in and didn’t flesh them out enough to be true alternate characters. If the skill points weren’t shared and they all had the same amount in separate pools you’d see people playing the alternate characters and just switching to the main dude for the sections that only he has the powers to do.

TLDR: They’re unfinished content they just left in.

Can read more on it here.

my buddy has put 80+ hours into the game and loves it but he was a hardcore Wow player who loved grinding forever (like some of you EQers) and this filled that little missing hole since all of us quit MMOs years ago.

I think an extremely broad game but very shallow describes it perfectly. There are a million systems and things to do but ultimately its all pretty shallow. Fun if you love the sandbox and spending hours in it (Skyrim, No Mans Sky, Minecraft, etc) but if you prefer a guiding narrative (Uncharted, RDR2) or deep lore/dense layered systems (Elden Ring) then this may not be your cup of tea. I'll definitely play when its on gamepass/ps+/etc or deep discount but i still haven't played cyberpunk 2077, kingdom come 2, or yakuza infinite wealth and those seem like better versions of this game.
