Being up in the abyss and being able to damn near see the entirety of the world below in solid detail while maintaining high fps in 4k is something else.

Did up to chap 6. Kliff has to be the most boring protagonist on the planet. Story/side quest writing is very bland, but they are mostly fun and lend to the exploration. Really my only gripe is the writing at this point tbh.

If you haven't yet, go up there at night and check out the view. Have never seen a view like that in a fantasy setting.

He just wasn't given many lines. Yann and Naira are MUCH more verbose, while Kliff is mostly silent. Really weird, imo.

Went back to that mine , from the front this time. Did the Boss fight, mine liberated!

Also wtf I have a mission to pick up this stray dog. Pet dog -good trust , feed dog a lot (damn that takes a long time) but it stopped at 85% no matter what I do. That's actually when I went and liberated the mine. Then go back ,nothing. There some secret? I'm feeling very compelled to press Y to kick the dog and I'm 100% that's the wrong thing.

Go back to the dog the next day, it takes 2 days to get a pet to 100%.

All dogs take 2 days to get (can pet 5 times for 25 then feed them for 10 points until 50ish). However, I think the quest dog is different. It sends you to get food first if I recall, fine meat? Unlike other pets, that quest dog gets 25 points for giving it the food so you should be able to tame it in one go. I did.

If you’re having trouble wining archery against the precog npc archer, just drive cart and park it in front of the fucking NPC and easy win.

Really is just farming abyss cores, upgrading them, and going that route. I swear some of the bosses are tuned off of people that already have super high ass defense cores. Try this website if you're tired of googling youtube videos for gear.

It just makes me curious ... like damn, this was supposed to be an MMO? By Pearl Abyss? What kind of nickel and dime fuckery could this have really been? I am so glad its single player and even though I have a shit ton of stuff to do, still - I actively want to see them working on DLC's or an expansion or something. Show me a teaserrrr c'monnnn! If it wasnt for me being knee deep in work, I'd have no lifed the fk out of this game already. I told my buddy about it when it came out and I asked why he didnt get it yet, yesterday. He said "Im not picking THAT game up until my Easter vacation next week. I can already tell that if I start playing that, I'm going to gain 15 pounds from just sitting on my ass the whole week." .. Mind you we're in our early 40's acting like some children, lol.

I've been seeing this shit over and over from people. There was an active smear campaign against the game for whatever reason. Though what can you expect from reviews like the one from IGN by a guy that praised Concord, Marathon and Lawbreakers. Ranked this game lower than those and said in a tweet that the game supported white supremacy from his "personal" account - deleted that tweet - got in arguments with people and then said the game was good and is asking for his editor to let him re-review the game.

Then you have a bunch of people like Lazy Peon, which will absolutely no life the shittiest fucking MMO's ever - buy this game, refund it the first day, then like a fucking retard - buy it again the next day - play it for 100+ hours, then give it a "good" rating and complain about the story. Then, a whole slew of people "hurr durr controls bad" and you see them stream the fucking game now that the devs have "fixed" the controls and all the mechanical depth of their playstyle is to just chain light and heavy attacks. Not even RT and RB which is basically free money.

Now that its been out some time, I rarely ever see negative reactions to the game. Its not some master piece, but its so good that even people that said they hated the game are playing it and giving it a thumbs up now. I say all this not only to reply to your point (which patches have drastically increased player storage capacity (weight isnt a thing) - but to pretty much shut down this "Ill try it later when its patched up" or "Ill try it later when the reviews are better." ... This game will probably stay at its price point for at least a year+ if not longer just because of the number of purchases it already has. Patches "now" are summed up in one or two lines "Patch Notes Version 1.01.03 - Fixed an issue where some bosses would sometimes stop moving during combat."

Buy the game already and stop sitting on the fence.

The controls complaint is absolutely valid, they are shit. Been playing for 20 hours and still misuse buttons all the time. They’re the most unintuitive controls of any game I’ve ever played. That’s pretty bad considering how many I’ve played in my life.

With that said I agree with the fence sitting. Other than the controls and weird UI choices there’s not much else I can see that is “waiting for patches” worthy. It’s not buggy that I’ve seen, and has a lot of QoL. If you’re interested in this just get it, it’s in a good state already and I’m not sure they’re going to fully rework the controls.

All the fights I’ve experienced so far have been like this. I’m like wtf this fight is ridiculous do I just have to chain dodge forever then stab once? Then I realize there’s a trick to the fight and it’s easy. It’s just hard to figure out that trick because the controls are so bad it’s hard to experiment.

Controls are not that bad, but for you they will feel awkward because they are not what you're used too having played so many other games that all share similar control setups. CD just piles on many other skills.

That being said, there are some skills which simply fail to fire off due multi-use keys, the worst of which for me is Blinding Flash and Stab. I cannot count how many times I've attacked a waterfall rather than stabbing through it.

Boss combat for me, mostly, has me doing R2 spam when possible into insta Turning Slash, using Focus Charged Shot if possible, Force Palm to interrupt atk chains, and Blinding Flash+Finisher (good gap closer and slows time).
