I don't think I'm at the point where "work on your camp" is an option yet I guess.

It’s not that far, I haven’t got through 5 yet and I have a shitload of stuff unlocked. Maybe camp quests start at chapter 4?You have to progress passed chapter 4,5. They really should have put the camp in earlier because it explains a ton of systems.
Do every Hernand side quest that opens up, even it takes far away. Doing so will eventually unlock the legendary beast mounts.Just work on your camp and other quests you find in Hernand and you’ll get used to everything. Do the MSQ when you are running out of side quests. Camp quests early is my only advice as like you I’m not looking story/progress things up but 55 hours in and I’m not feeling like I’m missing anything. Lots of systems open up via the camp and I feel like if someone is focusing on the MSQ and not doing the camp unlocking they’d be missing out. The rest of the side quests seem like take them or leave them, not unlocking anything major and the rewards aren’t anything special.
There are “things I wish I knew sooner” videos that are just tips and tricks and hidden features that don’t spoil anything.

I’m kind of the same. 55 hours in and have no idea what’s supposed to be happening, just running quest after quest. Why are there islands in the sky? Should I be going there? No idea. The questing is nowhere near as interesting as the Witcher 3 quests, those mostly had interesting stories that made me want to see what was going on. These are all pretty bland, and Kliff has no personality at all, just one line responses. Tons of the questing is just moving from point A to point B and back also, there are whole many hour long sessions where I don’t advance any story or fight anything.35 hours in and working on the camp. But starting to feel fatigue, so will take a break for a few days.
I need some story lure to keep me going, this one is so bland I don't know wtf is even happening. I'm not as good as you all seem to be to "create my own content".
Hopefully it gets interesting again or I'll just put it in the backlog of shame.

The repopulate liberated areas does sound annoying. Those aren’t interesting or fun to me, I don’t want to feel like I have to go re-liberate places. Redoing boss battles, ok sure I could see the fun in going back and stomping them when you’re stronger. I doubt I ever would but they’re at least fun battles unlike the big dynasty warrior style fighting when you liberate places.I don't want to "rematch" bosses I already beat and I don't want to "repopulate" blockades. The persistent world is what it makes better than your usual MMO quest approach.
I already dislike some of their mmo style quest trees where you get to some interesting quests or useful rewards after you did 10 stupid "oh could you bring me some new jars I can't be arsed to go to the store next door" quests inbetween. And the big battles are awesome but only once. Mowing 1000 enemies down to decrease a kill counter 0.1% for each kill is not something I would be thrilled to do over and over again. It's okay to free a landmark but it sucks if I had to visit all of them over time again and again, e.g.
