I would like to meet the team/person/thing that came up with 'focused force palm' and beat them to within an inch of their life. For example, this is what I googled after trying multiple times to get to that damn school on top of the mountain.

'crimson desert how to make motherfucking focused force palm fucking work godfuckingdamnit'

Don't get me wrong I'm still enjoying the game. I wish there was a way to speed up time while waiting for work to be completed. I'm at a standstill until my farm/ranch is built.

You can wait by a campfire, focus it and wait option comes up.

So this looks freaking incredible. Probably a good thing to test with the Pro, right? Does this do anything new for someone who's been around the block with MMOs?

The reason you are wondering where the damn storyline is likely has to do with this originally being an MMO. They probably focused all their resources on converting to a single player but had no time to make a cohesive and interesting storyline.

Gonna start this try on ps5pro, this game giving me a case of gamer fomo.
Any early game tips and tricks would be appreciated, especially things you wished you known before you got 10-20hours in.

It's funny, I'm 7 and a half hours in. I still don't really know what I'm doing, but there's some severely addicting about this game. I can't put my finger on it at all, but it's good.

It's probably the EQ effect. You have an unknown exciting looking large scale world to explore with no rails.

There are a ton of those videos on YouTube. Just search for beginner tips or things I wish I knew. They all cover different shit too cause there’s so much.

This isn’t like a mmo except fetch quests. Theres nothing really new in the game that isn’t in other games of various genres. It’s just huge and has a lot of things in it at once.

you are probably just fine going blind because for me 50yrs in there is still an overwhelming tons of I dont know but just tubing when stuck with some puzzles.
One very popular early tip is to sack that particular house for weapon and one gold bar and should set you up for a long time

Too much to go over. But some stuff is just like "thank fucking god" - like I didnt know about the campfire thing up above and.. fuck man, Ive been playing this game since release.

Some things I personally wish I knew sooner was that sometimes NPC's want you to do an escort mission. Like there is a pirate down in the south that, after liberating it, you have to walk the mayor like half a mile. Fucking awful. Until you realize you can saddle up your horse and that NPC will hop on the back of your horse and then you're done in 30 seconds.

Another thing I wish I knew as a noobie would have been that when you have a shield, you can parry/block the attack and disarm the NPC. Your Dog (Get a Cat or Dog ASAP. Feed it food, whatever, just get one as soon as you see one) - they will loot the weapons/shields, etc. You find you a weapon that a lot of NPC's have that you like to use and you can melt your weapon down into another one and get a higher rank without using crafting mats. You can repeat that process by melting two tier 2's down into a tier 3, two tier 3's down into a tier 4, etc. It sounds like a LOT of weapons - and it is. BUT - one of the earliest missions you'll get will take you to a Quarry and you'll be fighting a billion NPC's. Use those weapons to rank up. If you end up liking the sword, you can use it all the way to max level. But this should get you up to the point where you need Abyss Fragments to upgrade further. I might would hold off there until you have a better grasp of the game - as you might like something completely different. This also keeps you from mining an obnoxious amount of ore (mostly), waiting 7 days for the ore to respawn and farming it again.

Also, using the shield block/parry way to get weapons and shields is another excellent way to get Materia (abyss cells) that will socket into weapons. You'll start meeting them when you get outside of the first region. You can melt down these materia into a gambling machine to get a random higher tier abyss cell.

Stealing isnt as bad as it seems. Google the videos that tell you how to get "quick gold bars" or whatever. The amount of reputation you lose is the equivalent of freeing one person from enslavement. (basically nothing)

Lastly - its worth it to google BIS gear and get the stuff like the lightning necklace, early in the game. Theres no real challenge to getting a few pieces, just the time to travel (dont fight people, just keep riding your horse). Not only will you get a piece that once you upgrade, youll never have to replace. But, you'll also get to see more of the world and just how varied it is.

Wait till you are 100 hrs + in and start to scream if see another "xy request" pop up and they are all "I can't be bothered to get this myself". Or the countless escort quests that could have been a textbox because the npc ist just riding next to you telling you some boring stuff.

Don't get me wrong, amazing game but half of it is the engine and the world itself.

Oh and fuck that guy that came up with the constellation quests. Really, what is wrong with koreans?

No, Pearl Abyss just can't create a coherent storyline to save their lives. BDO is a complete fucking mess of a storyline and has been the entire time.

I believe they got rid of the reputation loss completely, unless you actually get caught.

I love this game, I really do, but I don't know if it's time constraints or too many other games to play, but I won't sit still and farm mats repeatedly in a single player game.

I'm also getting a kick out of pretty much every one else also having to look up where to get that damn Chapter 4 Palm strike upgrade lol

I’m already that way. People that go “hey can you go see if my customer liked my saddle” and you just go from point a to b to c via warps. Or “ride a horse with this guy” and you just ride halfway there to listen to completely pointless dialogue then they stop halfway and you just ride or warp the rest of the distance to talk to someone that ends the quest. That’s what I meant by the quests are boring as fuck. They’re just terrible, not one has actually been an interesting story.

I’d go in as blind as possible. There are so many «oh you can do that!?» «There is that in this game!?» that Get spoiled in a second or two in YouTube videos just in their intros, not cause it is a beginner tip? But because it looks good when hovering over the video.

But depends on your definition of what is a spoiler for you I guess and how you like to explore a world. This is probably one of the best high fantasy sandox exploration games made in a long time. So if you want to find out where to go to minmax your opening experience you can. Like in Elden ring you can ride without killing anything for an hour and a half picking up upgrades and the meteor staff and obliterate the opening 50% of the game. But who would want that for their first run?

I am now 50 hours in. Other than this thread, mostly blind. Been loving it. No real tips that arent ingame. Except when you expand base, there are som quest i thought were «my» quests, just not opened up yet. They were crew quests from the list. Something to keep an eye out for. Also when starting base quests, look at the ones you activate and do one that counter the cost too. Like one that gathers food but cost money, also start one that cost food but gathers money.
Get more than you spend so if you start off doing that, you’ll always grow

Just wrapped up the MSQ and epilogue.

The Chapter 11 mission where you need to destroy the 3 ultimate weapons on your dragon had me ripping my hair out. In the end I went after the airships, worked my wiped two of the 3 ultimate weapons out but only had 30% health, waited an hour (no joke) to get to 50% health to get over to a space spot underneath the 3rd ultimate weapon to cheese it. This is a horrible fucking mission. Other than that I went through the frost trial to get to ultimately, Umbra and didn't have a problem with that what-so-ever. In fact, I was pretty over-powered so the bosses melted. The Umbra fight, while basic in mechanics, was EPIC from a theatrical standpoint and the music is just second to none in this sequence.

And after all of my play time and ending the main story, I still have tons left to do after all this time. Typically when I beat a main story I shelf the game, but in this case I still want to play more. I am still running into tons of fresh areas which is crazy and there are tons left after almost 150 hours.

They have an awesome recipe to build on here. If they had some story sets like Witcher 3 for the sequel (Including side quests) at this level of scale, it would be off the charts. Hope they make a sequel now that they know this type of game can be a huge success.

This works! thank you thank you thank you!

'killed' the flying black blob at the uni last night. That fight could take more polishing. Thankfully when you fall down below it does not reset the fight or I may have uninstalled.

This game gives strong EQ vibes, as in it's addictive as hell.
