I dunno if anyone else has mentioned it but the control are kind of jank.
Feels like 3 or 4 games smashed together. Story so far is a fucking mess, I was pretty sure I died at the beginning of the game so all of this is just Valhalla? I'm fine with that.
Did you know, while flying, if you run out of stamina that you fall to your fucking death? Or at least I assume this is the case, I haven't tested it. I always hit the jump button again before hitting the ground so that I fly for a second and then land. Demon Hunter conditioning.
I don't think the main character blinks.
I am not looking forward to managing multiple characters.
The upgrade system makes no sense to me, at all, on any level. I am only on chapter 2 though.

You can pick up every bug, flower, and every other thing by just holding the collect button down (square on ps) which filled my inventory quickly. Can do this while walking.
Went a wandering to do a bounty and got killed in three hits by some dude with drills on his hands, that was fun.
I don't dislike this game but I am struggling to get into it, it's all so disjointed and unfocused. The menu controls annoy the shit out of me, I keep trying to attack things with square and triangle because I am fucking retarded and have auto programmed my brain to play hack and slash games differently than others so that's a me issue. I like tackling people and carrying them to jail.
Gonna focus on Story quests until something happens where I can say, "Now feels like a good time to fuck around.".

Yeah, I haven't bothered picking this up. Seems to me if you're not the type of player to enjoy "running around and finding shit" then you're not going to get into this game. Probably the same reason why BotW, Skyrim, etc. never clicked with me. Feels pointless.

Yeah if you are looking for a linear story driven experience, this isn’t it. Everyone I know that loves it, primarily play it as a sandbox game. I do recommend getting through the story a bit before you just go wondering, to unlock some of the abilities etc. Then there’s always that one friend that thinks if it’s not a God of War Ragnarok clone, the game is ass.

I excitedly followed this game super closely throughout its entire development, but since its release I have had absolutely zero desire to play it. Even if I were able to get it for free.
I can't pin down why my excitement absolutely cratered, but I think its that the game strikes me as souless.

Never understood the term "soulless" in regards to a game. In every instance I've seen it applied to this game, it has come down to the person using it wanting a more guided experience through the game vs. being rather open "do as you like" type experience.

At first yes, but now, there is no specific relationship other than then CD having some NPC's from BDO that have the same name / personality / use, like Shakatu, Patrigio, Hexe Marie, Kutum, etc.

I hadn't had any complaints about the game so far, but I was in Scholastone and doing the main quest where you "use axiom force to remove the unstable core" and holy shit, what the fuck? Who came up with this? Even looking it up, it still took me a while to figure out. In fact, I think it was just luck.
And then followed up by an absolutely ridiculous minigame type boss fight, where nothing is clear on what you're supposed to be doing.
I've been enjoying the game, but this was absolutely atrocious.

Obviously, I haven't played CD, but from the outside the gameplay looks like it shares a lot of similarities with games like Witcher 3 and maybe even GTA V, but neither of those games are what I would call souless.
CD looks like a game where they tried to cram in as many 'fun' and/or interesting systems as they could to give players plenty to do in their open world but, to me, much of it doesn't belong and seems like an amusement park rather than a world to explore and get immersed in.

I can say a lot of it is atmosphere, cool set pieces, awesome scenery and living in the world. I am still having a ton of fun with it and honestly, one of the first RPG’s I’ve played where I want to keep playing after the MSQ. They nailed a lot of details. Puzzles are hit and miss but once you get the jist of it, it’s fine. Controls you get used too. There definitely are a lot of filler MMORPG type quests especially countless bounties. But they nailed a lot of the systems with a lot of them obviously.
Loot wise it’s pretty much like BOTW. All of the weapons are pretty much identical stat wise but can come with unique abyss cores to put on other weapons. I honestly think if the story was better, side quests were a bit more indeptth, and it had less of the deliver / bounty things, it would be stellar. Story pacing is all over the place as a result but some of that is because you might have a goal to finish chapter 4, next thing you know you went to go check something out and it’s five hours later and time to go to bed.
Player housing, crafting, build outs, puzzles, farming, raising animals, many mounts with different characteristics, some tech stuff, gambling, mini games, exploration, dragons, stellar voice acting in some cases, pretty dry and mundane in others. Most memorable for me was Reed Devil story and the manor component and story there. But I had and am having a blast. I would say there will likely be a CD2 and if they really concentrate on a good story and get a little deeper with the side activities, it’s going to be quite hard to beat - their world building is second to none in the world itself.

I am 78 hours in and finally started chapter 5 . I also 'cleansed the sanctuaries' and got a bad ass 2h sword after dying 5x times to the fucker that was holding it. I am making myself stop playing tonight as my left hand is killing me from holding a controller all day. Man this game is like crack! The MMORPG comparison is fair because the last time a game got me this bad was EQ.

In other news - This guys tweet (Halo Reach dev or w/e).. he complains about the Goblins and then everyone in the comments is gas lighting the fk out of him and I find it to be hilarious.
