Any word on if they are expanding the gameplay revolving around the secondary playable characters? Unless they added something post launch there really was no reason to play them outside of novelty.

Not that I'm aware of, but they certainly made them both a lot more playable by adding skills / abilities to them that allowed them to do everything that only Cliff could do. The DLC apparently has a storyline for both, no idea how deep or even if those storylines will be necessary.
