This has yet to be adequately answered.

We know victories will prpfove 'trophies' that give advantages

But, while I assume the most powerful guilds will likely spread their resources across multiple campaigns, what about guilds that solely play FFA where they can't import gear from the EK?

What does having a beefed up castle with all the crafting bellls and whistles do for them?
If you guys think that the cash shop won't providesomeway for people to spend real world $$$ to getsomeform of in-game advantage, you're fooling yourselves. The path between real world dollars and in-game advantage may be obfuscated by a series of go-betweens (like trading things for other things) or delayed for a while after launch, but I promise you that at some point you will find yourself wanting to spend money in the cash shop. It won't just be for cosmetics either. It will be because you want some advantage the cash shop provides.

What's the point of having a cash shop if you don't provide an impetus to utilize it? You guys are ignoring the number one law of economics: supply and demand. With cash shop mmos, the developer controls everything. They control both the supplyandthe demand. Why would they create aweakdemand for their product by limiting items to non-game-impacting items, when they could create astrongdemand for their product simply by making you feel like you need cash shop items to "get the most" out of your in-game experience?

The question is how much PvP is acceptable to those players. If they want to be completely safe and be able to farm in peace, then they can find another game.
This is concerning given that we don't have any examples of MMOs that are successful with that stance. People jumped ship from UO in masses once a more palatable option came around, and SB had so many other glaring issues that its hard to really judge.

I'm all for enjoying a niche game, but I've noticed time and time again that the PVPers tend to drastically over-estimate how many other people enjoy PVP. I haven't really enjoyed MMO PVP since DAOC classic; I'd much rather play LoL than deal with the inevitable logistics of MMO PVP.

I'm curious how the financials of this play out; if the blues aren't going to don their sheep suits and play the game in the first place, then giving them their own little piece of the world to do their blue stuff seems to be win-win? You can argue that it "goes against the vision", but visions need money too, and its hard to really demonstrate the niche/core demographic suffering since it seems well-established that blues aren't going to tolerate being farmed en-masse in the first place.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the High/Low/Null/W partitioning of Eve, Tuco... but do you think that's an acceptable model? Or are you adamant that GriefSquad420 must have unmitigated access to any blue looking to gather resources?

That high/low/null split and how it's usually explained doesn't tell everything about Eve's pvp system. In Eve you can momentarily opt out of pvp almost anywhere. In high/low/some of null you can sit at the station. If you're on home turf, you can sit at a pos. Almost any ship can fit a cloak (not part of combat fit though, but you can refit in space) and you can sit cloaked in a safe spot somewhere.

Whereas in Darkfall for example you can get ganked anywhere from the moment you log in. (Haven't played the new DFUW, not sure if it's different)

Speaking of..

There will be limitations on how much resources/money you can bring into a campaign.

Heavy limitations, actually. Some campaigns will enforce the "terminator rules" (i.e. you bring in nothing), others will be "one bag + a carry on per passenger" (i.e. only what you can carry in -- which means a lot, given limited inventory capacity.)

If this is a real concern to you, just pick a server with terminator rules every time. You will never have to face a character with something they didn't acquire during the Campaign.

Reminds me of Constructed vs Draft in TCG's (mostly)

I find draft more fun so I'm glad terminator is in.

GriefSquad420 still as access to blue players in High/Low/Null/W
I know -- but there are easy methods to make it prohibitively expensive to people. None of my blue friends would have cared if griefsquad420 spent 10x the worth of their own ship to blow him up in high-sec. And for the most part, that doesn't happen. Ask the isk expense to isk loss on kill ratio gets unfavorable, gankers tend to back off.

With the ability to change rulesets for the campaign worlds, they could also set up invitation only top guild worlds. Then show them battle online. Lots of ways things could go, but they could, if willing, truly change tournament gameplay.

Of course GW2 could have as well. These people are creating worlds, hopefully they will do something new with that power.

Oh I forgot tuco: If EK vs EK is a thing (like being able to duel another guilds EK with yours) then your super bad ass castle would be at an advantage tactically.

Terminator rule set is all I plan on doing.
And I do hope they make some worlds with mob strength 10x the normal amount.

I want at least one server to have a free for all perma death campaign with a Langoliers mechanic to slowly herd the playerbase out of hiding.

Dbl post but whatever

Also, for anyone that cares, they're adding some more of the early bird tiers

We've had some concerns from the community about how fast the Early Bird pledges ran out during the first few hours of the campaign.

We are going to add some more of these Early Bird pledges on this schedule:

At 8 PM CST USA today, 2/25/15 and at 8 AM CST, USA tomorrow, 2/26/15, we will add more as follows:

GOLD PATRON - EARLY BIRD, 150 new slots at each time

AMBER PATRON - EARLY BIRD: 125 new slots at each time

SAPPHIRE PATRON - EARLY BIRD: 75 new slots at each time

This doubles the availability of these Early Bird specials. We hope this helps the folks who have work schedules that forced them to miss these Early Bird categories. Frankly, we had no idea how many people would pledge these categories before we launched the campaign and believed we had added enough to last the full first day or more.

If our current backers use these slots, it means funding our goal is an additional $27.5k away, so please encourage your friends to support us to make up the difference!

Thanks for Supporting Crowfall!

P.S. We are not planning on any other Early Bird categories. And Kickstarter doesn't let us mix and match elements of rewards, though that functionality will be on our website sometime post-Kickstarter.

P.P.S. Remember that several of the items currently offered are unique to Kickstarter, including the Arcane Weapon set and all "stronghold" category buildings, All of these will be unavailable after Kickstarter. We will have other options after Kickstarter but not these specific items.

I'm curious if they will have non-combat abilities/skills like tracking and also what their vision is for stealth/detection.

They have an entire archetype style dedicated to specialist roles (touting how the guinea might be better at digging than other classes etc) I wouldn't be surprised if the ranger class had some form of track or stealth.

I'm one of those crazy people who actually had fun with everquest's discord server. I would love to see a hardcore server set that only has a 15-30 day lifespan and everyone only gets a single crack at it. Some sort of weird combo of roguelike+MMO FFA that doesn't overstay its welcome because it's over so fast.

On the subject of win trading in a guild setting: Artcraft mentioned that at the end of the various seasons in a campaign they'll look and see if any of the rules or side advantage modifiers etc need to be adjusted on the fly. This may harm or help that particular circumstance.

Example: Hypothetically If guild A is crushing gvg constantly the export rates of the campaign maybe get tweaked for the losing guilds to incentivize not quitting. Or something is implented to incentivize other guilds to fight Guild A.

Again, mostly speculative as far as their involvement in this kind of stuff.
What they need on a GvG server is the ability to give out bonus victory points for killing members of certain guilds.

For Example: Guild A and Guild B are sitting in 1 and 2 spot so anyone that kills guild A members gets an additional X victory points and anyone killing guild B gets an additional Y Victory points. With restrictions of course so the guilds could not farm eachother or whatnot.

I'd like to see player kill value increase based on how well your guild is doing. And decrease based on how badly your guild is doing.

There's also some good reddit posts citing the FAQ and ACE's stance on enemy guilds working together (win trading) saying it's part of an "Alliance" more or less and works into diplomatic strategy within a campaign mostly.

In a setting where it would be multiple "Factions" working together to boost the standings of another faction, they mentioned the balance topic where the balance team would be working as hard as possible to keep both factions within a 30% variance, if they do they win the campaign.

tl;dr win trading in the classic sense is part of the political nature of a given campaign and seems to be accounted for in one form or another by ACE

I hope they come up with some kind of plausible EK vs EK system that isn't necessarily mere consensual dueling for bragging rights. Something like the DAOC Relics or GW2 WvW orbs would be neat. Not that you necessarily obliterate someones castle, but it'd be nice to lay siege to it and take something of considerable value.
