With the new nvidia drivers, you can use DLSS override presets to tweak settings. There is no descriptions in the app of what the presets do though, which is stupid. Reddit thread was helpful:

Reddit thread

Preset A seems to be what I was using in game before the update. Latest & Preset J dropped my FPS by about 10 in the benchmark test. So the override setting does seem to be working.

Btw Some people are reporting crashes on startup with this game. Been fine for me so far.

Bikes are best if only for the reason you can easily squeeze past all the other shitty drivers on the road
Yeah, it's all those OTHER drivers that are shitty. I was totally flawless and didn't just slip slide around the ENTIRE game.

I've been reading that Reddit thread you posted trying to figure out what I want to do, and I think I might just keep the current drivers right now. The weird override deal makes no sense if it doesn't explain what the hell it's even supposed to do or what settings do what. I think I'm just getting too old.

Thank you though.

or youre just using a laptop
Hey now, five years ago it was supposed to be the best laptop available. It's actually got desktop components in it that were top of the line for the time.

I know I need to go just build a new machine, but it's played everything perfectly fine on that settings. Trying to think of one of the last games other than starfield that I played. Maybe Remnant 2, and that game looked fantastic and ran flawlessly.

Agree. Seems like a cluster fuck right now. I guess there is documentation somewhere explaining the presets. But why do we have to go hunt for it or get it off reddit? I installed the drivers after reading somewhere that cards going back to 2018 received improvements. Then I ran a benchmark test and my avg FPS dropped from 74 to 65 so I ventured into that thread to find out wtf was going on and if I needed to roll back or what.

I guess it's cool there's an option to improve quality? But I see no discernible difference when I run bm tests so I'd rather stay above 60fps.

Yeah it's just goofy. I've always just updated my drivers when the Nvidia experience the old told me there was a new one available, especially if I just picked up a new game I would always go and check. Never had any issues prior to the last one. Never did a clean install or anything, but the newest one really screwed stuff up, especially for other games that I was playing that I never had a single issue with ever.

Now I'm real hesitant to immediately install whatever. From my understanding it seems that when they did the app deal, that has caused a lot of issues because maybe it's in the beta phase stillbut who the hell knows. I just don't trust things that are called an app. It's a goddamn program, not everything has to be related to a stupid smartphone.

While not super common, I did like how some parts of the game actually used your origin background to open up new solution options

Cyberpunk has randomly been popping up in my YouTube feed a lot again. Rumors going around there might be more stuff coming down the pipe for yet another "final update".

I'm struggling to get back into this.
Loved it when it first released and played it to death.
Finally decided to do a replay with some fancy mod pack (city of dreams I think?) but feel so lost. It's like learning to play a new game, but I already know how to play but half of what I know it wrong. hopefully it all clicks together soon

You are playing a new game, they redid how armor mods work and a lot of other things a while back. When I did my last replay (when the official DLC came out) I was a lost puppy and started over fresh. Stick with it, it's still a fantastic game.

Mechanics wise it is a new game now. I still love it. On my third or fourth play through now.

Sounds like the new Cyberpunk game will be set in Chicago in 2080.

CDPR has previously mentioned that V's story is done, so I don't think they are going to dive into a direct continuation of 2077 from that perspective. Having it take place in some post-apocalyptic style shithole city would also let you bypass some of the corporate fallout from 2077, specifically with Arasaka since the Relic and ultimate outcome of all that based on the ending you choose impacts them so heavily. Arasaka gets pretty much fucked in all the endings except the Devil ending and if they picked a canon ending, I suspect Devil ending would be the least likely as a result.

If they do any sort of story continuation, I think it would be centered around the Black Wall and the AI beyond it. They spent a good chunk of 2077 hinting that Mr. Blue Eyes was an AI or agent of the AI beyond the wall and of course we had the whole Alt AI storyline. Plus in Phantom Liberty, there is the whole AI from beyond the wall story with Songbird. By having the story take place in a rundown shithole, it lets you contain any AI fallout to a degree since the entire city presumably isn't all wired up as Night City would be.

While the upcoming-underground-bullet-train-to-Chicago ads were everywhere in 2077, I'm worried that 'the Fallout problem' is becoming universal: In games where our choices narratively leave the world in irreconcilable states, the only way to avoid having _some_ players having made the 'wrong' choices in sequels is to just blow up the setting immediately after _all_ the endings, which ironically makes _none_ of the player's choices matter.

Beyond the 'just blow it up issue', I'm not excited about Chicago specifically - that's smack dab in the middle of NUSA turf, which _should_ limit the amount of pull corpos from / other countries have. (E.g. Eddies- Euro-dollars - shouldn't be a thing.) It's also way less believable that warlords can set up their own fiefdoms (e.g. Dogtown) in the middle of a functioning country.

It seems like it should also limit the available biomes - if you haven't looked at a map recently, Chicago doesn't have any deserts, or oil fields, or even farmland anywhere near the city proper. Unless they are going all-in on just having this be city based, with maybe a smattering of razed city chunks for things like Combat Zones.

And yeah, I expect / hope this is heavily AI based as well. The problem being that AIs have basically been portrayed as omnipotent once they get into humanity's networks, unless networking is radically different in ruined Chicago (e.g. we have to reach physical access points at a site before we can use any netrunner abilities).
