That's far.

Being only passingly aware of the history of the era, I was surprised when Giulino died. The character was beginning to grow on me and felt more well-rounded as the season progressed, and then he died. Historically, it appeared he had to die sometime, although supposedly during Lorenzo's near assassination, but his death in the river appeared to take away from the rising tension in the spy subplot. Getting clumsily knifed by the eye candy was rather anticlimactic.

That was a rather lame season finale cliffhanger where little was resolved. Sadly, I'll probably still watch it in 2014, but I would have preferred some minor semblance of resolution.

Season 2... I hate that I watch this show, but I liken it to watching Hercules or Xena back in the day. Campy nonsense that somehow passes as watchable.
