SUPERMAN First Review Calls DCU Reboot "Superficial And Silly" And Bemoans "Terrible," "Overstuffed" Movie
The first Superman review has been published from a major outlet, and it's overwhelmingly negative, arguing that very little works in James Gunn's first big screen addition to the new DCU. Check it out...comicbookmovie.com

i have skipped watching most of the trailers, but did see the 1st part of the big monster fight and it looked a little silly.
resulting in a would-be franchise re-starter that resembles a Saturday morning cartoon come to overstuffed, helter-skelter life
DC Comics die-hards may delight in Superman’s endless geekiness
Variety is fucking with you. Gunn's comment "Yes, it's about politics" is in reference to a scene (that we've seen in the trailer) where Superman and Lois debate whether he should have stopped a war.Send his super stupid ass to alligator alcatraz!
This is now a never watch for me. I knew that shit head Gunn would pull something stupid.
Superman was made to look like a white Anglo-Saxon for a reason. Not to embellish his immigration status.
"Yes, it's about politics. But on another level it’s about morality. Do you never kill no matter what — which is what Superman believes — or do you have some balance, as Lois believes? It’s really about their relationship and the way different opinions on basic moral beliefs can tear two people apart."
I mean, Superman is the story of America,” Gunn says. “An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”
Bald brah is illiterate.Variety is fucking with you. Gunn's comment "Yes, it's about politics" is in reference to a scene (that we've seen in the trailer) where Superman and Lois debate whether he should have stopped a war.
Other full quote:
Notably in the above, Variety excluded the 'but' and added an 'and' to try to tie the concept of basic human kindness to immigration, whereas Gunn is specifically separating them. Just scum journalism at its finest.
The original interviewer was also trying to make everything about politics to fish for an out-of-context soundbite (look at that headline--basically has nothing to do with the interview), but imo Gunn didn't take the bait. Worth a read if you want to hear his thoughts, but nothing that you couldn't figure out from the trailer:
