I thought joker was a pretty good film despite the nog love interest that happened to be entirely fictional
I've apparently completely edited that out of my memory. I actually liked the movie so I'm not gonna go google pics and refresh my memory. The edited version is better.

There has never been a watchable, worthwhile movie that featured a black "love interest" with a white protagonist.

I can think of no exceptions to this iron law.

for everyone that don't get the reference to a mid 80's comedy, that is C. Thomas Howell

was trying to think and even had chatgpt list off stuff, the only things that i saw that i liked was the expanse, she was the worse part of the show by a mile. the other was the in the heat of the night tv show, but looked it up, after bill got married, show only lasted 1 more season.

Its been a while since I have seen commando, but I would debate the love interest part. Yes it had a black female, but there was no love interest between them. She was a useful idiot he used to further his plan of revenge. I don't recall the two of them lying on a beach somewhere at the end after he murdered everyone.

Best movie that incorporated some jungle fever (but it's a black protagonist with a white love interest):

So snyder verse failed and they want him back? Souncs like a bold strategy.

Guy has hasn't made anything profitable since MoS I'm pretty sure, and as much as I love Watchmen I don't think that brought in money

Overall, his films made profits..

Below is a table of key examples (focusing on theatrical releases with available data; budgets and grosses are approximate and exclude marketing unless noted). Profitability is assessed as:
  • Highly Profitable: >2.5x budget in gross.
  • Profitable: 1.5-2.5x budget (breaks even after costs).
  • Break-Even/Loss: <1.5x budget or confirmed net loss.
MovieYearProduction BudgetWorldwide GrossMultiplierProfitability Assessment
Dawn of the Dead2004$26 million$102 million3.9xHighly Profitable (strong remake that launched Snyder's career).
3002006$65 million$456 million7xHighly Profitable (iconic hit; net profit ~$400 million after costs).
Watchmen2009$130 million$185 million (theatrical) + ~$180 million (home video)~2.8x (total)Profitable (underperformed theatrically but recouped via video sales).
Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole2010$80 million$140 million1.75xBreak-Even/Loss (modest gross; one of Snyder's admitted underperformers).
Sucker Punch2011$82 million$90 million1.1xLoss (critically panned; barely covered costs).
Man of Steel2013$225 million$668 million3xHighly Profitable (revived Superman franchise; exceeded Superman Returns by 70%).
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice2016$250-300 million$874 million3xHighly Profitable (5th highest-grossing DC film ever; beat expectations despite mixed reviews).
Justice League (Theatrical Cut)2017$300-370 million$658 million1.8-2.2xBreak-Even/Loss (budget overruns from reshoots; ~$60 million net loss reported).
Zack Snyder's Justice League2021$70 million (reshoots)Limited theatrical (~$4 million)N/A (streaming)Profitable (top HBO Max debut; high Blu-ray sales and viewership offset costs).
Army of the Dead2021$90 million (est.)N/A (Netflix)N/AProfitable (one of Netflix's most-watched originals).
Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire2023$166 million (both parts)N/A (Netflix)N/ABreak-Even/Loss (low viewership; criticized as underwhelming for budget).

As compared to James gunn? MoS at least made money, the new superman was a box office bomb.

Watchmen was a flop at the box office, but turned a profit in the end. It made a lot from physical media and vod.
He hasn't had a theatrical release after justice league, streaming only for Army of the dead and Rebel Moon.
Shazam, Blue Beetle, Black Adam, birds of prey were not part of his plan. While he was producer for ww84 and second suicide squad don't think he had any control over them.

Zack Snyder is a good director, a piss poor writer, and the more control he has over the writing the worse the product is.
