Yeah. The reincarnation system is the core fundamental that keeps a huge swath of the playerbase around.
I've played DDO off and on since it was released, but have never reincarnated myself. Doing so would be significant increases in power for my character, but running R10 dungeons with characters that have 30+ past-lives and outperforming them with my First-Life character has become a point of pride.
However, with all the upcoming changes I'm probably going to have to get over petty pride and take advantage of all the power I am leaving on the table.

How does The reincarnation system work? Our little group played it for a handful of years on and off, and I'm talking pretty early. I think the last major update I remember happening was when artificer was introduced.
It's definitely a game I thought about getting back into with the boys, but I would probably be pretty lost and I don't know if I even remember my damned account information.
I did love playing my monk though, and I could just run through a dungeon and evade all traps and then one of my buddies playing something like a sorcerer would get nuked, and start yelling at me. Such fun times.

I guess I probably have I just can't think of one off the top of my head.
If I remember correctly though DDO is 3.5 rule set, and I vaguely remember when resurrecting a character was a thing but I don't think any of us ever did it because it was fairly new thing. It just kind of seemed weird when applied to dungeons & dragons. We just always went and made new characters.

It's exactly like making a new character: start at level one, choose class/race/feats/attributes/etc. But you keep your name and items and - depending on your race or class - you get a little reward for doing it. Like 10 hp or a better saving throw. The rewards are little, but there are about 200 of them.
