Yay me, 5-star all of Mexico. I can get back to the main story again.

Damn them for moving me to Australia before letting me finish Mexico. My OCD didn’t like that at all. Came back the first chance I got.

damnit so I wasted money on the first one, couldn’t get into its slow pace. About to get suckered in again, is this one not worth getting if I didn’t like the first one? Also will it make any sense if didn’t finish first game? To the extent that a kojima game can make sense
quick question, are you dumb?

I get the "slow pace" comment in terms of the start of the first game.

I am just in the opening parts of this, but it is way faster to lead you into the combat mechanics. In the first one, you could easily spend almost 10 hours in the opening section of the game, and more hours after that before you started unlocking guns and other fighting than regular punching. You were very limited as to how to handle BTs as well.

In this, the opening is way more streamlined. You start off, then get told to go to a place, but tag 3 areas before that. Each of those areas (10ish minutes between them) is a minor tutorial. Weather, sneak, BT then boss. Not a spoiler, literally explained within the first 5 minutes of the game.

Then on the way back, you fight. That's the 2ish hours (including cut scenes) which leads you to the "lets connect the world part 2". That's where the games catch up with eachother in terms of what to do. It is the same game. Go between places and deliver stuff while connecting them. If you don't like that loop, you will not like this. However, it can be quite a bit more action oriented.

It delivers a very bare bones text "this happened in the previous game" that you can select at the start menu. Goes over the first game, but with very little detail. Enough to play, but no real backstory to any character or event. But you don't need to finish the first to play this.

I'm still in the first Mexico area (I think up to 4 stars is good gear rewards, 5th is just deco/cosmetic, so grinding the 4 stars), but every bandit camp is sleeping. 20kg of my bike is reserved for level 2 assault rifles. I've just been running into the camp areas and shooting everything so they wont bother me.

That said, I need fire grenades. Like big ones. I was driving along, just looking straight at a thing I wanted to pick up. Then giant fucking spiders started raining from a cliff and coming up behind me. They were everywhere. Got stuck on a rock. Jumped around, got out, but fuck that.... Actual jump scare.

Missed this one came out. I wonder if my PS5 will start or filled with dust.

Worth getting right now if you enjoyed the first one?

I started Death Stranding 1 a couple of weeks ago. What a weird game. I’m 40-50 hours in, and probably halfway through the chapter list. I’m glad I stuck out the first 5-10 hours, but it’s definitely not for everyone. I could probably rush the story if I wanted, but I like wandering around, getting most bases to 4-5 star and doing the ‘Orders for Sam’ at every location. I

I have such a huge back log, I probably won’t get to DS2 right away after finishing DS1, but it’s good to hear people liking the game.

I never got too far into it on ps4. I just bought it in Steam so I could play on my steamdeck. Runs great and looks great so far. Let's see if I can finish a game for once

The first game had a super strong social aspect that really contributed to the feeling of the game upon initial release. Probably annoying to a lot of people but it definitely created a specific atmosphere of "Well I guess I just help this guy finish his bridge..." and then you get a billion likes and it gives you whatever bonus for that tier of likes instantly. Just a very... specific experience, at release.

To me this game is kinda chill. I really think it shouldn't be chill, but I totally feel chill playing it.

Am I misremembering?

I thought Fragile was granny-mode below the neck? Did I forget where she was healed in the first game?

I thought her face was a hologram because she had been hit by so much timefall. Christ I need to play the first again. Leya Sedeux or whatever is a very interestingly attractive woman. Her scissoring in Blue is the Warmest color is probably impacting my thoughts, however. I legit thought she was just an old lady with an always active filter.
