Is it worth 5 staring shelters early on? Cant remember how it was in DS1.

Just went through the gate but did not do many extra deliveries in Mexico.

I've done 4 star on most, I think you can check the corpo tab in the menu and see if the final reward for 5 star is something else than a sticker/cosmetic.

It depends on individual shelters, mostly get cosmetics on the 5th star but some give good rewards depending on play style.

For example in Australia, the lone commander gives a silent version of the sniper rifle as a 5th star reward, if you like stealth and sniping it is an amazing weapon.

Been 4 Staring Mexico and damn it takes a while. Only the C1 Facility left now though.

Got pissed off going to the first Village, ended up making 3 bridges lol.

Just checked all corpo things that I had. Under the "people" section, it lists all characters. Every facility has a main person that is listed there. If you scroll down on their info, it will say at the end something like "if you continue your progress you will get.." If it says "ultimate symbol of gratitude" it will be sticker/cosmetic. For those that give actual rewards for 5 stars, it will specifically say what the item is like "silenced sniper rifle" "Stun bomb" etc.

So can easily do that to check if the reward seems worth your time.

Trying to unlock the Silenced Sniper, annoying getting to the guy though.

What weapons are you all using?

Also, what makes the roads being built?

To get to sniper guy, just go to the government base, at the entrance of it, turn left and drive over a few bumps, then there is a path that goes up the mountain. There are 2-3 of them, but the leftmost goes straight up and can be driven all the way. No BTs.

Using mostly shotgun/assault rifle, both level 2 then my backpack has a level 2 ammo thing on it and 6 or so extra grenade slots. I think I have around 40+ level 2 blood grenades on me at all times. When I get to a BT area I just go towards where the baby shows me where they are and blow them up.

Not sure if roads are ever "built" without you doing the last part? The only time I've seen one built without making it was the first road I saw, which got a tutorial message? Every other one I've built myself. Not sure if anything that isn't made by PCCs can show up? Only difference on roads that I've seen is that the cost of them changes dramatically if you build them in or outside the network. Like 3-400 of each of the materials vs 2k+. You do get far more likes if you build them outside the network, but it doesn't feel worth the cost.

As to likes, apparently there is a way to game the system. Saw a clip of DansGaming on twitch doing it. If he finds a structure with a lot of likes on it, like a well placed bridge with 40-80k likes, he dismantles it then builds his own there. It doesn't remove the other players structure in other worlds than yours, but it also triggers your structure to show up at that spot in other worlds. He is close to a million likes now.

My favorite thing is the community effort to put the signs that give a speed boost on roads spaced apart so you zoom around on them much quicker.

I kinda didn’t bother with the first game. Worth playing?

First game was Kojima wanting it to be more of an experience, and thus focused too little on the "game". So many didn't like that. Took quite a few hours to get gameplay elements other than "walking".

This is much more of a game. Faster access to more things, more combat, more tools. Absolutely a better game than the first while still having the same loop. Story is full Kojima, so if you like that, then sure. Though it still is a delivery game.

I'd say it is a better overall experience than the first game, but it is fundamentally the same thing. You walk and drive places delivering stuff and occasionally fight bandits and BTs. There are a few janky bossfights thrown in. The story is absolutely full of gobblydegook and nonsense but that can be charming or frustrating depending on your patience and situation. While, aesthetically, I appreciate that someone in the gaming industry is Kojima-ing a game, I find a lot of it tiresome and kind of stupid. Your mileage will vary.

I never finished the first game and it is very unlikely I'll finish this one, but I'd say it is better in most areas regardless.

I actually finished the 1st game, on PS+ pass, despite not being a fan of whatever genre it is or Kojima.

All my friends that were Kojima fans and bought it didn't finish it heh.

Wife made fun of it being a walking simulator. The only reason she cared, at all, was because Daryl from Walking Dead was in it. :D

Having a friend buy and play it so I don't have to is the best decision I gleaned from these reviews the last few pages.

Game is pretty good. Yeah the game loop is delivery but a lot of things have changed. Easier access to guns and upgrades, blood grenades from the start, and the combat is more enjoyable with lots of different ways to go after bandit camps, BT's. Game is stunning as well and loads and runs insanely well. Plus you do not need a subscription to use the online features. You get access to a vehicle after the tutorial stuff in Mexico as well and deliver a few lost cargo loops and you have access to a machine gun pistol, armor for the first vehicle, BT Assault rifle, etc comes all at once pretty much. Characters are whacky and story so far is pretty mysterious and also whacky.

I played DS1 about 30 hours and change and never finished it - but this one has more action so I am happy with the game.
