So, advanced the story a bit rather than build roads and 5 star shelters.

Got out of the snowy area and …


First, getting the winter wheels makes using the truck in the snow so much better, changes my opinion of the area a lot, still crap, before but vastly improved after. On to the story proper, damn seeing Sam caught in a loop of burning and dying over and over again hit hard, I felt for him. And then anime girl Tomorrow arrives and does cool anime fighting, was really fun to watch. Then her trying to help Sam and not being able to, and the obvious answer Rainy appears to save the day. It was a pretty solid scene in my opinion. Then the reveal to Sam that Lou is gone nad he’s been carrying an empty pod all time, poor Sam being hit with that info. And again a little later, the whole final sequence with Neil Varna and the reveals there. Cant wait to see where it goes from there.

Finally finished it. Could not be bothered to 4-5 Star or even unlock the last shelters as the area was really ass to travel around in, the snow and all the BT areas just made me rush at the end.

The End Fight was kinda luls, as usual with the Kojima games. Most if not everything was explained and I felt it was a decent story in the end.

I just finished it. I like the ending, not exactly what I expected but somewhat satisfying.

I didn’t bother to 5 star anything once I reached the snow area. It’s just a very tedious area in my opinion until you actually are out of it than you get new tools that make it a bit easier but it had drained me already.

Overall mechanically, pacing and story wise I found the game superior to the first one. The deliveries are a bit more tedious to be honest not just the snow area but overall in the game. The world is larger and generally speaking harder to navigate than the first one which doing deliveries somewhat less rewarding.

Still an amazing game. I’ll definitely replay it at some point.

I knew the voice from Dollman sounded familiar. The same actor that plays Jesus in the TV series The Chosen.

Just finished this up. Awesome game and story.

I have to say, pretty sure I have seen by best cut scene to date out of any video game when combined with an awesome musical song selection when:

Higgs had Sam in a perpetual and painful fire death loop of which he would never get out of until Tomorrow came in and starting kicking major ass - that was just epic.

That was my experience the first time and looking at the comments for this sequel it seems to be more of the same. I think I tried to get into it at least 3 times, first time I managed to play it quite a bit just after that I just struggled to stay interested in the game and continue playing it.

I know it's got it's fans but I will always think of this as the gaming equivalent of some modern art show that gets all sorts of praise from the artsy community while I struggle to find anything to like about it. Kojima definitely feels like the equivalent of one of those Hollywood directors where "they used to be so great" back when they made a couple movies decades ago and now I just struggle to watch anything they make today.

I just finished last night at 103 hours. I haven't five-starred everything yet, but I plan to to do that tonight. I'm pretty close. I love just dicking around in the game. It's fun to me.

I felt Kojima did a really great job with Tomorrow. It was awesome to see her kick ass. She wasn't shoe horned in or anything. He melded her into the story perfectly. I honestly can't wait for the third game now with her at the helm. The end was luls and pretty cool at the same time. It was jaw dropping see the all giant BT's and the Magellan going at it in 60 fps. I was thinking the entire time that seeing at 30 fps wouldn't be as good. It's the first game that felt like having a PS5 Pro was definitely worth it.

Played through DS1 on PS4, directors cut on PC and about 20ish hours into DS2 and just discovered the bola gun works on BTs. Did I miss a note on that somewhere because it is fantastic.

Isn't there a training drill for bola vs BTs? I know people who aren't interested in 100% might skip those but they do a decent job for understanding how the game intends you to use weapons.

IIRC the weapon description also says "infused with Sam's blood to counter BTs" or something like that.

edit add: I didn't know the bola also gives the bloodstain effect so you can use normal ammo on a bola'd BT. Even before that I thought it was an underrated weapon, assuming you can headshot.
