I could have sworn we had a separate keyboard thread, but I can't find it. What are the best mechanical keyboards that are under $100? My Logitech G15 that I've had for 5-6 years is finally shitting the bed on me and I want to make the move to mechanical.

I'm in the market for a new gaming PC but I know next to nothing about computers and am looking for a little help or insight into how I can get the most bang for my buck. I want to go with something pre-built and can't spend more than 12-1,300 on it. Would something likethisbe a good idea for someone who isn't about to attempt to build his own computer? If so, can anyone recommend some obvious and affordable upgrades if any exist? Like maybe the video card. Any help is super appreciated! <3
Find something with a better video card. That processor(with custom cooler) is such a waste of money in that system.

It's in the product review section.

Hopefully you can get a second opinion (ie I dont know much about Mobo's or PSU's), but either of these would be a significantly better gaming PC. +$70 for r9 285 to r9 290x

Thanks for the advice, Ichu, but that link sends me to a page about their privacy policy. Mind checking it and trying to link again?

I love my GTX 970. I'd really try and get one if possible, by far the best bang for your buck GPU wise right now.

I'm afraid I'm going to buy it and then ~4 months later 20nm maxwells come out and they're insane.

You guys are really spot on whenever I ask for hardware device, so I appreciate it more than you know ~

Im trying to stay under 1000$ but a little more wont be a no.

Im looking at
Motherboard
ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Processor:
Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I74790K

Video Card:
EVGA GeForce GTX770 SuperClocked with EVGA ACX Cooler, 2GB GDDR5 256bit, DL DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI, DP, SLI Ready Graphics Cards (02G-P4-2774-KR)

She has the case - and I think power supply. But I am clueless what to tell her about the items shes picked out. Again, any help is appreciated.

Stick with i5 for gaming. If the comp is used for other more intensive multitasking stuff like encoding, well then i7 is good. But for gaming and regular use i7 is waste. There is a couple bucks saved.

Other things she needs is obviously 8gb of memory also a SSD is recommended. Maybe a 1-2TB storage drive. An aftermarket cooler is also a good thing, even if you don't OC, its worthwhile for $30 for the decrease in Db.

If you do any kind of watching streams or streaming yourself while gaming, i7 is worth the extra money. The 4790k is one sweet chip for the money with a decent cooler bolted onto it.

I'm trying to decide between going with an i5 or i7, too. The computer will be used 99% of the time for gaming, and I've heard that the i7 is overkill. I'm worried that in a year or so the i5 will be dated and I'll be kicking myself for not going with the i7.

It's not a matter of being dated. The number of cores in an i7 simply isn't relevant to most gamers.

Right, but when they run benchmarks, they don't run them concurrently with 20 browser tabs, a twitch stream playing on the second monitor, and a queue of steam games updating and Pandora playing.

For real world usage for a serial multitasker, 4790k just makes sense.

If you don't have ADHD or actually do anything besides game, then sure, get the i5.

Yep, there are benefits to the i7 outside of gaming. Agreed, heavy multitaskers should consider an i7.

I'm interested in having a hackintosh because my hubby likes Macs and I like PC (gaming). For those who have built them: Are they difficult to build? I've not used terminal much and the idea of troubleshooting a mac almost terrifies me. But, the thought of having one computer with dual functions is outweighing the issues. Should I just ask a company if they can build it? Or?
