Wow, thank you! Figured out too late that a mother board issue I had was cosmetic, and so I'm still stuck on 8.1 Not a terrible thing but I liked Win10 for the bit I had it.
You can register the upgrade to you Ms account and then you can reinstall 10 directly later on if you need - aka no upgrade license key to remember/backup.

Ok so fuck it going to just get a new PC. Looking to spend between $500-1k. I don't see any games that really appeal to me on the horizon I mostly play MMOS (WoW, eq2, ESO etc) so I'd do a cheap decent 500 machine or if it's worth it to spend a little more to have the machine for a few years and be able to run whatever I'd do that.
Out of the loop on what pieces are the best and all that. Currently browsing ibuypower as my brother got his from there and likes it and it'll have the warranty and stuff in case anything goes wrong and I'd rather just spend a little more to not have to do it myself.

Anyone see anything premade there that's a good deal? Or wana just help me put something together I'll buy piece by piece and assemble myself

January/Feburary 2017 shaping up to be a great time for computers. Zen, desktop Kaby lake, Nvidia promising something huge at CES and Vega should be out around then.

Mightve mentioned it before but I run wow at max with a 6700k and 1070 and the frames vary from 50 to 200. I expect a 1060 is slightly less than that. Just an FYI.

Good build, and if you'd rather stay well under $1000, a Nvidia 1060 card rather than a 1070 is a great card for 1080p gaming. It'll run your MMOs like a champ, and save you ~$200 on the budget
May do this to save the extra money. Whats the name of the card never used this site before can't locate it

Pretty much the bare min, sure you can save 60bucks if you have other hard drives around

If you'd like a smaller SSD, probably save 40bucks

If you really wanna get a less powered psu, you can save 20bucks, but that's pretty much it.

If he's okay with pushing close to his max then getting the 500GB Samsung EVO SSD is more than worth the extra $35 it'll take. That and bump the 1060 to a 6GB version for another $30. Between the two you can last a bit longer before needing to add or change anything else.

As a general rule of thumb, if you have a theoretical max on what you're willing to spend, just get close to it and buy yourself another year or two out of the build as a result. If all you're looking for is something to tide yourself over, then sure, go low end of the range. But you'll be doing this again in 2-3 years if you do that.

Don't go AMD for a gaming processor. It's not worth the money you save.

Is there any compelling reason to upgrade my 3570K yet or would i just buy throwing money away?

Not unless you want to spend $1200 on a new PC just to get 10% more FPS in the games you play.

I'm personally still happy with my 3570k, and I dont see that changing for at least a couple more years

I'll probably go with an i7 next time around as they are starting to make a noticeable difference over an i5, but at this point it isn't worth it to me to spend the cash on an entirely new build.

Generally speaking, unless you already have a 1070/1080, a video card upgrade would get you a much bigger performance jump than upgrading your 3570k, and for a lot less money to boot

Looking to buy a 1080 FTW card.

Anything in the nVidia pipeline to make me regret this decision? 1080 GTX Ti or etc.?
